Video shot by an ambulance driver near Moscow, when leaving the hospital after having waited in the queue for 9 hours to unload a patient:
https://youtu.be/d0VkYHcdIzo?t=22
It's not the only queue of ambulances, there are other such videos, in the city center as well
Wow, that's quite an eye-opener!
Google translate rendered:
In Khimki, the FMBA medical center has a giant line of ambulances. It was formed due to the large number of patients with coronavirus. The waiting time is a few hours. The staff assures that all these people will receive the necessary help.

"No one over 65 has been forced to stay at home so far" In Tessin, they banned over 65s from shopping, I have friends who had to show their Ausweiss before they were allowed in Migros or Coop.
That's not the same as being forced to stay home/being forced into curfew and confinment.

Also, prohibiting all 65+ from going grocery-shopping was very likely an illegal thing to do. Federal regulations trump cantonal ones - Bern should have reacted.

I stand by it and there's no way there'll be a federal directive to forbid 65+ to leave the house.

I do wonder what the % of EF members are over 65?

Been discussing the likely possibility that over 65s will be asked to stay in lockdown for much longer than the rest of the population. And I can tell you theose over 65s are not happy. Many are lonely as it is, isolated even without - widowed or on their own - and others just cannot bear to not see their children and grandchildren, or friends, go out for lunch or to the theatre, etc, etc.

One 80+ year old, recently widowed- told me if that was to be the case, he saw only 2 options: civil disobedience or EXIT. He told me he has not got 1 year to waste - and to not live in order not to die- is just nonsensical. I agree.
I agree that targeting the over 65's is wrong. But some of the problem is self imposed. Our neighbour has gone into isolation, does not go out, phones us up from one floor down. My OH does the shopping for her. Who is to blame? The media, I don't think so, rather the Swiss mind set of no risk.
No one is stopping visits by grand-children. I am in the high-risk group, but still go and "work" in a communal garden. Fresh air, conversation, all at two metres distance.
The work implications of the lock-down are another issue - hence the limited opening up.

How is he incapable? Last time I checked he was doing a fairly decent job. He's too cautious for my taste now, but of course it was clear I was going to say that. And weren't you the one who wanted to call or indeed called the police because you saw "huge groups" of people outside? So how is Berset governed by fear but you are not?

So? What's the point of doing something completely different if you're a small country in the middle of a continent? It's only fair Europe at large would at least show SOME alignment in what to do when, and so far there's been extremely little to no coordination. And that Switzerland would err on the side of caution was abundantly clear as that's pretty much the default setting (again I think it's too cautious, but it was certainly to be expected to go this way and I wasn't the least bit surprised).

These personal insults you figure out on your daily meditations, watching the joggers run by...time slowly moving?

The effort of some to knock down those who had only a few nights of sleep past 2 months

Let's turn it the other way. We have gotten a precise time plan yesterday. This is new and excellent. It shows caution again but gives people the time they need to get ready.

Now as per the lack of masks still, don't get me started. But I doubt there is zero effort in this, imho, to merit your harsh and constantly rude assessment.

I agree but the longer lockdown might be better for us, CH being conservative might compensate in the long run.

Yawn away - I wonder how you would feel if you were over 65, or in the case of my friend, a very active, busy, lively, fit 82 year old, and were instructed to stay at home for many more weeks or even months, than the rest of the population.

This friend has actually sent his next of kin his advanced directives in case he should become severely ill- no intubating, no excess of treatment over a long period, and to give his body to medical research. He is the least selfish person I know. He just thinks that at 82 he has not got 1 year to waste locked up inside his apartment not seeing his family, friends and without access to culture, nice shared meals. Fortunately he has the most beautiful apartment, with a balcony with views to die for, and woods with nice paths right behind him- so he does go out every day.

Daily update from CH BAG/OFSP: https://www.bag.admin.ch/bag/de/home...rnational.html

The plot of daily number of death now shows that it takes up to 10 days to have the best available information. Before 2 days it is useless. Considering those real-world constraints, the peak seems to have occurred between the 28th of March and 2 of April.

This plus even advised to go for walks.

Again people please make the proper distinctions. We are not in lockdown, but shutdown. No one needs a piece of paper to leave the house or is facing arrest if they go outside. No one is being forced to do or not do anything, beyond the obvious restrictions that apply for all. Thankfully, again, this actually IS a democracy and there is an underlying, implicit assumption that the overwhelming majority of people is responsible and that this is not a culture where you need to coerce people into compliance. Don't try to concoct this into some France-like situation when it is absolutely not and is highly highly unlikely to ever be in this current (or even future) context.

They certainly took that advice to heart.
I've never seen so many of the elderly out and about.
Maybe they thought it was an instruction?

Most of us likely only notice this because we are home ourselves.

And movement, exercise, vitamin D are all connected with good health and a good immune system. Makes perfect sense to encourage this.

We do, just in a different way, by necessity. Austria is quite a bit ahead on the "down" curve.

the advice/instructions has been very clear - do not have close contact with anyone who is not in your household- so unless grandchildren live with you - then no visits to them or by them.
