Researchers at Zürich University hospital believe COV-19 hospital deaths could be reduced by up to 30% by using blood thinners.
Not sure I understand because whenever I was in hospital they shot blood thinners into me every day, anyway; Source (German language)

So everyone in hospital will now be getting rat poison!

According to some Dutch researches, bald man with beards have a higher corona risk. So, if you are old, fat, bald and have a beard, you should really watch out.

I guess it doesn't help the fight against the virus directly, it just makes sure the patient would not die of other things before corona could finish the job.

. | | | | | Makes sense really.
Bald men are more likely to be older (and so in a higher risk group) and beards are supposed to be pretty bad news as a surface for the virus and other dirt and debris.
Men are at higher risk too.

Santa Claus is lucky that it's not Christmas time now... | | | | | He's in the high risk category anyways with him working well past retirement age, not to mind the beard and weight. It's a pity that as a self employed person he probably receives very little in the way of government support. The balding is news but Id be losing hair with an ever increasing order book of high tech equipment manufactured for free.
He has the social distancing down to pat, avoids people all year and only visits houses through an unused entry without making contact without anyone.
Those fake mall Santas on the other hand are about to get their comeuppance for making a profit off the back of the real Santas hard work.

| | Re: Coronavirus
Maybe of interest to someone.... | Quote: | | | | Sweden has reported its highest daily death toll since the start of its coronavirus outbreak, with 185 added to its total since yesterday.
The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the worst-affected Nordic country is 1,765, with 15,322 total confirmed cases to date up 545 on the day before. | | | | | The death toll is also a clear indicator that they are massively undercounting infections.
Compared to their Nordic neighbours, Sweden now has 175 deaths per million, Denmark 64, Norway 34 and Finland 25. Now I wonder which of those four isn't on full lockdown...?

| | Re: Coronavirus | Quote: | | | | | MusicChick, this is the first time I've seen a study separated by profession. Could you do a bit of translation of the article, just the percentages by profession, svp? Thanks!
Nevermind, I did it with Google Translate. The study was done on 6,000 random people who tested positive up to 13 April. Of the 6,000 people, 584 were health care workers, 129 were teachers, 69 were public transport drivers, 57 were police, 55 were social workers, 49 were EMS and firemen and 19 were soldiers. | | | | | Those stats were all people who tested positive in the country so far. Up to right now 6 900 and some. It wasn't a random sample but all positive tests up to a very recent date. Once they find one positive person, the teams go and track up to 100 possible contact people and test for potential new positives.
Btw, regular flu - I read somewhere that no. 1 risk population are medical professions, no. 2 are teachers.
Another thing is that the schools have closed a few days into March, so the teachers must have gotten infected really way back at the beginning of the epidemics.

Considering that majority of the positive people don't get really ill, your assumption is probably not correct. There haven't been many deaths nor reached capacity of ICU beds so far in CZ, they flew foreign Covid19 patients in from France to help out.

High incidents of blood clots in affected patients, so treating them in case they're part of the mechanism of problems has been tried for a couple of weeks. https://www.latimes.com/science/stor...t-busting-drug
These types of drugs are routinely used post-surgery and sometimes in patients who are immobilised for a long time, but wouldn't normally be used for most non-surgical hospital care.

Colloquially they are often called "blood thinners". Since they do not make the blood more fluid, this term is strictly speaking not exactly correct.
