| | Re: Coronavirus | Quote: | | | | | Robber with protective mask raids bank in Langnau.
A stranger raided a bank branch in Langnau am Albis on Wednesday morning and stole several hundred thousand francs of cash.
Well at least he cared about not infecting anyone! | | | | | Black face mask... not a very smart feature of choice for getting lost in the crowd.
Overall I think this is a good argument against making everyone wear masks in public. The crime rate may go up, as it will be much more difficult to identify the offender.

| | Re: Coronavirus | Quote: | | | | | Another twist on masks is that the more fancy ones, e.g. 3M FFP3, may have an exhalation valve, therefore they only help to protect the wearer but not the others. | | | | | They protect others to some extent: they block projectile droplets from flying out, prevent people from touching their nose and then touching veggies, etc. (seen it in Migros not once) plus others tend to steer clear of people wearing such masks | This user would like to thank jimk for this useful post: | |

I had a younger Swiss woman tell my coworker and I, wearing masks, on SBB we should move to China or home country if we want to wear masks in public.
I as so confused............why would anyone be averse to us wearing masks?

She can switch off the TV and not read the news, but maybe does not think about turning her head away from masks that people around her are wearing. People will get used to it. We also had weird reactions in Migros, when we did not want people to worry about our allergies.

Okay, in CH we can actually leave our houses without a certificate/app or cameras watching our doors, but there's not much open, we're still supposed to avoid groups of 5 people or more, and we can't realistically travel for leisure. So we're still mostly stuck. | | | | | Well we're lucky to be living in a tourist destination country, so at least we can travel within CH. Here's a photo of yours truly a week ago biking from Anzere (1500m above sea) down to Sion (and then back up to Anzere by bus), that was super! Even went for a dip in the mountain lake along the way. We own a holiday apartment in Anzere and keep some full suspension bikes there. It's available for renting by the way, if you or someone else are interested (inexpensive).

11th of May, end of the lock down! Restaurants to reopen, even borders!
Perhaps Swiss government finally realized the few of us here on EF were correct all along regarding the lock down! | The following 3 users would like to thank V__ for this useful post: | |

| | Re: Coronavirus | Quote: | | | | | I am not talking about going back to life as normal, just reopening the country whilst taking precautions. Use of masks, social distancing, vulnerable continuing to self isolate, avoiding public transport, those that can work from home should continue to do so, avoiding large gatherings etc. A lot of this will happen eventually anyway, but it should have started already. Of course it will never be possible to protect everyone all of the time, but this is where personal responsibility comes into play. | | | | | | Quote: | | | | | Switzerland in the past half hour have just announced almost exactly what I said from May 11th

But what about "Those millions who cannot do their jobs and maintain social distance?"
Are the Swiss authorities not reading this EF thread????

I'm just laughing at anyone who imagines the Swiss Federal Council would read this forum Hopefully we won't see a rise in infections like Germany is currently experiencing.

The Guardian: UK said to be studying Czech exit plan where shops now reopening. Country eases coronavirus measures after quick response helped it limit cases to 7,400 (the article came out on Monday) https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...-lockdown-exit
Till now: 227 deaths / 7 500 infected. I would lie if I was to say that the de-confinement measures were not making me nervous, here and there.
It is eery to see the Old Town Square so empty in the photo in the article.
