I was referring to the fact that chemists are selling out of masks very rapidly.
I would be surprised. Those who would buy them probably belong to a subset of customers, the Swiss are the least panicky, fear/paranoia triggered people I know.

Yes.

In China stocks has run down and most stores are sold out. Surely they have tremendous production capacity, but even if only 10% of the country wants only one per day than that equals to about 140 million a day. That is tremendous, and China is not the only country where usage has skyrocketed, and some countries have build up stock over the last days. And many people who travelled to China for the Chinese New Year brought along a bunch causing some stores here to run out of them.

Re: Coronavirus

I don't understand why people in Switzerland would start worrying about the Coronavirus, there is no way it would get a permit to be here.

OK, but without any evidence this is conjecture. I wasn't asking for conjecture, I was asking for evidence as you stated it as a fact.

You might well be right, but so far no evidence.

Several Dutch papers do state that they sell a truckload more and mostly to Asians and most get sold in touristic areas and Schiphol. No reason why it would be different here.

Use Google and common sense I'd say.

Let's just wait for the test results of the people currently in Quarantäne in Triemli-Hospital.

Re: Coronavirus

I was in Luzern on Saturday and saw a substantial number of people wearing surgical masks, some of them in vibrant fashionable colours.

By substantial I mean there was more than 20, when normally I see none.
I will say that a lot of the masks appear to be very loosely fitted with gaps in the sides and I can see a sneeze now going for a broadside attack as opposed to the standard straight forward.

Re: Coronavirus

What's the point of masks?

Of course, carnevale started last weekend, so perhaps that's why.

Not sure it is my job to prove your conjecture to be honest.

Let's agree that this is merely your opinion.
