Switzerland is one of the countries in the world with the fastest epidemiological increase in new corona infections - and with the currently most lax containment measures in place.

You know you can multi-quote on EF right? You click the "-icon on eacht, then the "quote" button only on the last and type away your answers. Keeps threads nice and short if you have a lot to say at once. |

| | Re: Coronavirus | Quote: | | | | | we are heading to the new lockdown? this time forever-lockdown? | | | | | Unlikely. If there are further lockdowns they'd be pretty localized. Right now the government is using tracking and tracing and telling those who test positive and those who come into contact with them to self-isolate. | Quote: | | | | | more breathable means less protective | | | | | Not necessarily. This is a double-layer cloth mask with an additional layer of paper towel that is doubled over in between. So 4 layers. I find it easier to breathe with that on than with the flimsy paper-ish ones you can get at the shop. You might find the opposite to be true. | The following 2 users would like to thank 3Wishes for this useful post: | |

But think of the less well off in their 2 by 4 flat with no balcony and nowhere to go to get away from it. Shit on these politicians!

| | Re: Coronavirus | Quote: | | | | | I wouldn't be at all surprised if the canton of Zurich is soon to follow. Zurich currently has many more new infections than the canton of Vaud.
Zurich: 317 new cases since June 1st
Vaud: 135 new cases since June 1st | | | | | Vaud also is half the size of Zurich... And it's already been established there was a small cluster in Zurich which has since been identified and acted upon. | Quote: | | | | | I think its more about politics now, not health | | | | | Has been for a while.

Kreando has fabric specially made for masks. It's loveyl fabric, albeit a bit pricey at ca 37/m.
Both Kreando and Stoffzentrale have an 'antibacterial' poplin - essentially a very tight weave - suitable for the lining layer, white or black only. Less expensive at ca 18-22/m.
Both retailers also have a Vlies suitable to use as a removable filter, washable at 60, ca 9/m (90cm width). You can cut a lot of filters out of a meter.
And for anyone who is looking for special themed fabric design for your masks, Spoonflower (EU, ships from Germany) will print on demand. Several fabric choices, I find the cotton satin the best for masks. You can order direct from Spoonflower, but I placed my order via Amazon, as I often do when buying from a company outside Switzerland that I've not used before.
Might has well have a bit of fun with your masks. | This user would like to thank meloncollie for this useful post:

Imagine the cost for a family of 4. Each pack in CH costing 35 CHF for 50 pieces. Its gone in a week!!

I bought cotton neckerchiefs in OTTO, they were selling 2 for 1fr 50. Perfect for making washable masks and I found some elastic I'd saved from something I bought from IKEA in my workbox. I also got cheap cotton 2 pack masks in C and A this week, pink / floral for me, navy / stripe for OH. Müller had little patterned ones for kids.
Have to admit I'm not looking forward to wearing one all the time on public transport, I also read yesterday that the Federal Government are being advised to extend this to wearing them in shops.
I also read about the outbreak traced to a club called Terminus in St Gallen, they think someone may have been at the club in Zurich where a number of people were infected. | This user would like to thank Cherub for this useful post:

Florida should have long ago recognised that it is a major crisis.

Depending on the fabric, design, and the type of closure, my masks cost from 2 to 7 Chuffs apiece to make. Washable a gazillion times so quite a bit less expensive in the long run.
Another FYI, Coop had the disposable masks at 20% off today. I don't know if that sale will continue into next week, or not.
