They make a big deal of it yet do nothing substantial to stop it. China has done a fantastic job of getting a handle on the situation and implementing a plan to treat the increasing number of patients. They will get their industry back in action soon, with contingency plans, while the rest of the world will be caught with their pants down never admitting that China has their shit together.
If China really had its shit together we'd be having no problem here.

WTF... are you a Chinese spokesman or something?

China's handling of the crisis has been widely reported by almost all independent media outlets as pretty horrific with a lot of cover-ups and human rights abuses.
I agree they started off poorly (understatement). However, the actions of the past month have been outstanding and continue to improve. Not good by democratic standards but it works.

Is there a clear definition of "having their shit together"? Emotional, economical, manufacturing, healthcare, governance?

Number of deaths/day and new infections/day, would be a good measure stick for me. Also recoveries so far as total of infections. Everything else is now secondary.

Thatís amazing .
Tried them all out, and it actually works!
That still doesn't explain the thing about that city celled Luzern in German being called Lausanne in French and Lugano in Italian. Why is Sweden so complicated?

In more positive news, the Women's Strike is cancelled across the country. It was due for the usual 8th of March date (which would have been a Sunday, so most of the participants wouldn't have had to take a day off).
Why is that positive?

it's offtopic but I don't agree much with third wave feminism, and you have to admit the people who organise this are full in on that. But that's just me. You can take it as sarcasm if you prefer.

Or in the case of one Valaisanne socialist, masturbate (remember the 2nd round of Conseil des Etats election in November? Some socialist militant announced that she did that instead of housework when she was bored on a Sunday).

Well of course they are dealing with the situation as fast as possible now that the situation is more clear. It's either that or the country will be a disaster.

However their initial reaction to the virus was arguably more important and caused a lot of problems worldwide due to not being able to react in time.

China have done very little that could be deemed admirable and are instead now driven by necessity.

Re: Coronavirus

The Federal Parliament will be going back to work on Monday, till the 20th of March, but with quite a tweak:

- no tours for schoolkids and others
- no visitors for MPs (aka no lobbyists!)
- no permanently accredited journalists (that might not be so good but we'll see)

MPs are being urged not to shake hands all the time and make other signs of affection.

Re: Coronavirus

Experienced some hostility today at the supermarket. One old Swiss dude seemed angry at me (im asian looking) and kept saying in swiss german something about China/virus to me as if I caused it. I followed him around the store to see if I can scare him a bit, he just kept muttering to himself.
Probably there will be many more like him and to those that are not accustomed to racism it can be quite discomforting. Read that in other countries some people are getting physically assaulted

On a side note Im already starting to notice i get more leg room and space on the train which isnt a bad thing!

Par for the course, then.

I just returned from an apero that i felt begrudgingly obligated to attend. The drive there at rush hour was shit, and i was not looking forward to mingling in a crowd of 100+ people. I arrived at the address only to find that there were really 350+ people there. And the venue of choice?- a hospital, no less. Why not?

There were hand disinfectant dispensers in various locations around the premises - though I only saw one other person besides OH and I use them at all. OH's ex-boss was next to me, and let out a big cough into his hand - someone else joked that maybe he has the virus, to which he laughed and joked back 'maybe i should go wash my hands!'. He didn't. Instead he grabbed another mini sandwich because, well, open buffet and all...

Re: Coronavirus

It could be true about Google! Weíre all going to get this thing arenít we?! This should have been the week to lock every one down, now itís too late. Government should have acted as soon as it started spreading around Italy. I donít know what they were really waiting for.

That's debatable. Still a lot to be learned but if you are interested and haven't already made up your mind of the ineptness of the Chinese government, have a look at this video from the WHO. It gets interesting at about minute 24 or so but the whole clip is worth a listen.
