According to the graph from this arcticle, Denmark did not.

Denmark -6.9%, Sweden -8.2%. Respective national bank numbers, seasonally adjusted and corrected (which is why both numbers are a little better than kngavl's below).

They said during Q2. The graph in the article talks about Q1 + Q2.

In Q2 Sweden's GDP dropped by 8.6%.

In Q2 Denmark's GDP dropped by 7.4%. https://www.thelocal.dk/20200817/wha...nd-the-economy

Denmark performed better during Q2 than Sweden.

Well apart from the fact that,as kngavl pointed out, I was talking about Q2 (Q1 was barely affected by lockdown up there), there are some interesting quotes in that article...

Quote:
I suggest to Tegnell that an alien landing in Sweden would have difficulty knowing there is a pandemic whereas in England or France, with face masks prevalent, they would realise immediately. He argues that while that might be true on the surface, especially with masks ... the differences elsewhere are exaggerated. Swedes have stopped travelling just as much as neighbours; hotels and restaurants may not have closed but have been severely affected.

He points to the markings in supermarkets showing people where to stand and detailed restrictions on restaurants in terms of how many people they can have and how they serve them.

Sorry but if I want to learn about an epidemic I'll read virologists or epidemiologists thank you very much.

Where an economist writes on the subject I'll pay attention to whatever he might say about the economics of it.

The Swedes get everything wrong, just look at Volvo - been designing cars badly since 1927

Sound familiar to the Swedish corona response?

Sweden's gain will be if it avoids a second wave and the rest of Europe doesn't.

I think that's plausible but very far from certain. Let's see.

Suffice to say I've only just finished spring cleaning my fallout shelter from the last lockdown, only to find we could be
confronted by the 2nd wave !!

Shouldn't be long before we see toilet rolls disappearing from Supermarket shelves again at this rate.

Again from the FT

"Only a fool would draw strong conclusions from sketchy data. The biggest fools this year were those who prematurely declared the spike in Swedish infections from April until June as evidence that the Swedish decision not to lock down their economy was wrong..."

"I consider the lockdown reflex as currently the biggest threat to western capitalist democracies..."

"It was wrong two months ago to condemn the Swedish strategy based on that data, and it would be equally wrong to draw the opposite conclusion now."

If I had posted this, I would have been banned

Yeah absolutely.
If I remember it was just 1 m in submerged hull diameter that was missing (or too many cannons).

Sweden could just have had a prolonged first wave and a second wave to come. We are still a long way from a vaccine. But yes, if Sweden doesn't see a second wave you would think their economy would fare better and their deaths would be less bad than they are now in relative terms. It's a marathon not a sprint. Tbh it's impossible to know even at present what strategy is better. If Sweden does have a second wave it's been disastrous.

Hes accidentally used Swedens graph twice instead of Spain's. Spain's is much the same story as Frances just a bit worse.

I was finding it very odd that Sweden and a Spain had identical graphs given that Spain is on lots of quarantine lists at the moment.
