I suppose you're talking about the big hospitals where you could see people queueing outside in front of the special testing tents, but if you want to be tested without much fuss there are also a few smaller private clinics/labs where you don't need too many explanations. I'm not sure the insurance will cover the cost though. (for e.g. if you don't have symptoms or you haven't been in contact with someone which was confirmed infected)
In Malta, car owners all get tested in drive through tents, they never leave the car. Less useful in CH where many people don't have a car.

Re: Coronavirus

From Friday, in Kanton Schwyz, people in shops and restaurants will be required to wear masks - if they feel they can't socially distance.

That's going to work, isn't it?

Kanton Schwyz - the kanton with the second highest number of cases in Switzerland per capita.

The level of car ownership in CH is not far off Malta. 0.53 per person verses 0.61.

Way higher in Malta 387,775 licensed vehicles (2019) with a population of 425,971. Thats over 0.9%, this includes children.

When I lived in ZH I had 4 vehicles registered 2 cars & 2 motorbikes, living in Malta, married we are a 2 car family.

Your population was off by nearly 100 000 people.

Malta's population: 514000
Malta's personal vehicle registration (cars+bikes) 85% of 387000 = 329000
329000/514000 = 64% (from your link)

Switzerland population: 8570000
Swiss personal vehicle registration (cars+bikes): 5344000
5344000/8570000= 62%

It's the same ownership in both countries.

You didn't bother reading the story and/or understand the implications then?

The point here is that the patient was infected by a strain of covid sufficiently distinct from his first infection that his immunity could not stop it. If the virus has mutated that far there will never be herd immunity.

That is even without the probability that immunity will fade after a few months.

Yes only one case so far. But with disturbing implications.

The first death from a coronavirus reinfection has been reported in the Netherlands
Source

Researchers said that the woman had not been tested in between her two positive diagnoses, but noted the genetic makeup of the two viruses differed.

There have been at least 23 confirmed cases of reinfection worldwide. The instances of reinfection raise questions about how long people are protected from the virus after their initial infection.

A sobering tale:

some 50 pages back in this thread, I wrote about my cousin's husband 5½ month fight with Covid19. He is now well enough to write again.

Re: Coronavirus

Well, more cases yesterday compared to the first peak back in April. It could be that the people less resistant to the new illness already got it.

https://twitter.com/BAG_OFSP_UFSP/st...57495878365185

Another interesting fact is that Zürich and St. Gallen have lots of new cases. A few months ago there was some talk about a virusgraben between the French and the German speaking regions. People tried to explain the difference in the dumbest ways. Today, the virusgraben is not there anymore, neither the experts trying to explain it

God, that sounds absolutely horrific, I cannot imagine how I would be feeling if anyone in my family went through that. I'm waiting for TonyClifton to come and tell us how it's all fine and part of the sacrifice and suffering that the elderly need to make.

Re: Coronavirus

My parents are in their mid 80s and relatively healthy, fully mobile and mentally super sharp. Seeing them caged from far in their property due to Corona is heartbreaking. Modern technology helps but it is not the same as visiting them.

Actually I should call them right now

Re: Coronavirus

Capitalism forces at work, I feel so proud of these guys Well, the moment you pay for the blood plasma of people that have recovered from covid19, it's the moment when there's an incentive to get sick, recover and sell plasma.

The problem as usual is that that kids are bad at risk analysis and keeping their mouths shut. The resistance to the virus is literally a genetic lotto, you may suffer a headache, your may get hospitalized, of your may die, more probably the former but no one knows in advance. Quite probably is just a prank that got out of control, anyway it's fun when even the dumbest pranks are credible. https://kutv.com/news/local/byu-idah...to-sell-plasma

Genetic makeup differed but by how much? There are already many mutations of Coronavirus out there from what I understand. Would that genetic difference have been enough to re-infect a healthy individual who was not suffering from white blood cell cancer? Now that is the real question.

There seem to be serious reasons to be worried about Corona when combined with incompetent governments world over. I want to die only once but all this fear is killing me multiple times daily

At 13% positive. If they had tested 40.000 (where BAG wants to get to), they may have found 4.000 or 5.000. There is no way this can be contact traced in any meaningful form. Flying blind.

Even if they were to perform properly, the way people use them renders them mostly useless anyhow. Which is, ironically, the original reason they gave as to why masks were unnecessary at the beginning
