Yikes. 2,823 new cases today. That's double the number of cases that were reported yesterday.

Re: Coronavirus

The German federal government has declared the whole of the Netherlands, almost all of France and, for the first time, regions in Italy and Poland to be corona risk areas with effect from next Saturday (October 17th).
In addition, Malta and Slovakia as well as individual regions in nine other EU countries will then be put on the risk list, as the Robert Koch Institute announced on Thursday (October 15) on its website.
These include eight regions in Switzerland (now the cantons of Friborg, Jura, Neuchâtel, Nidwalden, Schwyz, Uri, Zurich and Zug).

Possibly means over the border shopping in Germany will be difficult or banned after Saturday?

Re: Coronavirus

Shall we open a sweepstake as to how many covid-19 cases the incompetent Swiss authorities can get by next Friday. I am going high; 4000 cases by next Friday.

But no, since we're going for the Swedish model now with covid-19 lets do the math, we double the number of cases each week.

4K
8K
16K
32K
64K
128K

So by the end of November 2020 more than 10% of the population of VAUD will be sick.

256K
512K
1024K

And before Christmas given only 800K people live in VAUD EVERYONE will have it. There won't be a need for a lockdown since the only people walking around will be the survivors & they'll already have had it.

For now. There's a new sytem coming on 8 November whereby everyone has to do 10 days quarantine which can be shortened to 5 days with a negative test.

You mean VAUD authorities - we have a federal model, the cantons were given the powers to make rules on coronavirus, it's their choice what they do.

Re: Coronavirus

For anyone worried about their shopping trips to Germany, it appears as these may still soon be possible in spite of the quarantine requirement

Quote:

November in Kraft treten, so Seger.

«Wir haben von deutscher Seite den Willen gehört, dass man die Grenze unter allen Umständen offen lassen will», sagte Seger. Der sogenannte kleine Grenzverkehr, zu dem etwa das Einkaufen im nahen Ausland oder Besuche in grenznahen Regionen gehören, wäre dann wieder garantiert.
Translation, basically from 8th November it's hoped that short trips to Germany for shopping and stays of up to 24 hours will be allowed. Money talks

Not surprising, first they yelled there were too many Swiss shopping in Germany, then Corona hit the shops and then they were complaining nobody bought from them. Yes, money talks definitely here.

Town of Great Barrington, Mass., comes out against the Great Barrington Declaration

“We are a Covid safe community, we are not tossing off our masks,” Mark Pruhenski, Great Barrington’s town manager, said in a statement.

“We wear masks, keep safe distances as we can in public,” said Stephen Bannon, the chairman of the town Board of Selectmen. “We are among the lowest risk towns in the state, and we hope to keep it that way.”

Town leaders “believe herd immunity is a dangerous Covid-19 strategy.”

I would have never thought Steve Bannon supports mask wearing.
