If 15 people in parks/open space, then what about gyms? I have friends who work in fitness industry, they will be toast.

Rumours of stricter nationwide measures

Country-wide restrictions may already be in the works. According to communication seen by news agency Keystone-SDA and published on Friday evening by the CH-Media group, the Federal Council is actively considering new national measures to fight the surge in Covid-19 cases. These include making mask-wearing mandatory in all indoor public spaces, limiting gatherings in public places such as parks to 15 people, and recommending telework.

I have been in the gym an hour most days getting fit for the ski season.

Light weight! My warm up alone takes me an hour

Just thinking out loud (Swiss numbers only). Please fact-check me

1- On average, how many people die each year from flu? Apparently 1500?
2- How many people died this year from Covid? 1823 (2 more months to go)
3- Is the average age of people who died from Covid really 82?
4- Swiss life expectancy is 83 years?
5- In the worst ever flu season, how many people died in one year? (In the last 10 years)
This is the graph of the deaths in Switzerland for 2020, one can also see the graphs for previous years.

Re: Coronavirus

This virus seems to be so unpredictable in the symptoms it causes. The variation between individuals seems to be really great. Does that support the theory that maybe it is a genetically engineered virus? I know none of us here can truly answer that question but it does make me wonder.

Say it was engineered in a lab, then what was the aim? Economic war? Population control? Research gone wrong? Bio-Weapon?

So what you are suggesting is let people be packed in a gym like usual then just watch the spread even more?

At least this way the indoor places is somewhat controlled, which will minimise the impact of having them closed soon.

I think it depends on the type of gym..

I do crossfit most days.. We book our place so we're tracable, we don't share equipment* and we're a small group, max 15.
Really hope we don't get shut!

*We share static things like pull up bars but we clean them and everything else before and after.

Covid consequences

My mother was telling me she was in a local pub in England and the Covid measure control Polizei were there.

A man came out of the toilets without washing his hands and was immediately apprehended.

Subsequently he received a £200 fine and the pub a £1000 fine.

I was wondering what the subsequent implications for a criminal record would be?

Now I mean COVID or no Covid you should wash your hands, but can you imagine having to explain your criminal record because you didn’t wash your hands when you went to the loo?

Kinda funny

Slovakia just announced a plan to test all of its inhabitants over 2 weekends.

What's interesting is they will do antigen test, so the aim is to see how much the country has been exposed and how close/far to herd immunity they really are and not to do a track/trace/isolate
I think both can work together. Track and trace can be useful for people that are currently infected, and to try and identify or prevent super spreader events. Antigen tests can help identify how much of the population has already had the virus...assuming the results are still valid. Some people appear to not have many antibodies 6 months later and others do.

I've read some things about people having T-cells with "memory" that attack the virus in a lab setting, even if the person was never diagnosed with Covid. Is there any test widely available to see if your T-cells are the good ones? That might be another thing to pursue?

Between 60 and 70 thousand people die each year in Switzerland, why 1800 corona victims are more important than everybody else?
I wouldn't say they're "more important". They're more newsworthy right now because this isn't over and we don't fully understand it yet. Most of those 60-70 thousand people didn't infect a bunch of other people or totally overwhelm the healthcare system in waves. Heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc. aren't contagious.

Re: Covid consequences

Hard to see why the pub would receive a fine unless they didn't provide the necessary washing equipment, but in that case the man couldn't receive a fine because it wouldn't be his fault.

You have no long term effects from it, Roegner’s friend still has problems, that’s two opposing scenarios right there.
.
It's not clear that Roegener's friend has LONG TERM effects, just still has not fully recovered. My full recovery probably took the best part of 8 months, although 90% recovery within 3 months.

My wife was diagnosed with myalgic encephalomyelitis 15 years ago, spent 18 months in bed & was told she would never walk again. She has made a pretty much full recovery & can manage 4 hours uphill ski touring without issue. She has to rotate food & makes sure she gets a lot of sleep. We have been together for 6 years & every year is stronger, as she says a lot of illness is in your head. Stress brought it on in her case.

I have never taken Covid lightly I actually wanted to deal with figures that were 100% known, hence my questions.
I know. But that was for the others on this thread who constantly refuse to accept that the lockdown was not and never about the 1,800 or so who died. It was always about the thousands who would have died without it and about keeping a functioning health system.

Re: Coronavirus

The only explanation I can think of that makes any sense of the current reaction to the covid-19 situation is that the authorities were underwhelmed the first time around and they are worried we over reacted.

This time they want to make sure the hospitals are near to collapse before shutting anything else down. Repeating the mantra everyone needs to keep their distance and wear masks evidently isn't working.

I am being forced to travel into the center of Lausanne next week, all week. I will be very careful. Wearing a mask and keeping my distance. If it doesn't work and I catch covid-19 anyway I'll let you know.

I am in center Lausanne and Geneve daily, every day. Once a week in Zurich. I never wear a mask, I try to keep distance but I don't think too much of it, I wash hands when I can.

If I haven't caught in 6 months daily routine chances are beyond slim for you to catch it from going out once in a blue moon
