Any update?

Yes, no update, the announcement from last Friday to come in to work still stands. Even if the Schutzkonzept does not match what is proposed by the BAG (offices are cleaned only twice a week.......).

Do you mean Zurich? I've never heard of a Triemlispital in Bern.

That sucks! Hearing from a few friends they're still going to be expected in the office in some form or other in spite of the clear recommendation to stay at home.

Ugh, that's typically the type of passive-aggressive rhetoric I can't stand. Claims to be empathetic but wishes disease onto others, lumping absolutely everyone voicing any type of skepticism over restrictions into the category of 'anti-maskers', 'anti-restriction', etc.
Calling people out on their hysterical, alarmist, over-the-top reaction to the pandemic is not the same as believing the pandemic is 'no big deal', btw. It's totally possible to take Covid seriously, yet remain level-headed and keep on living relatively normally (psychologically), refusing to let your anxiety and exogenous political discrepancies feed your fear.
Really? And how do you call your rhetoric? You're accusing others for things you're doing yourself, but for some reason that escapes your astute spirit of observation.....

Why not just express your doubts in regards with the anti-corona measures and refrain from calling people or their reactions all sort of names. How about that?

When you "call people out" expect to be called out too......

Intersting wording on new CV measures....

Spontaneous gatherings of more than 15 people aren't allowed. We'd better hope we're in the first 15 to wait at a tram or bus stop......!

If only I could argue that my workplace is a spontaneous gathering. I would hardly call it organised!

I think that meant as opposed to announced meetings of tracable identities (work, school, relatives, hobby club). I don't know about you but I don't do meetings on a train platform or a bus stop. It is probably the unfortunate word 'gathering' in English that is a bit awkward?

Any train station at 7 am....

One of the bad things corona has brought is the fact that we use our car much more often than before. Normally we would have avoided the car every time we could. Not anymore. Luckily OH still works from home and the school and kita are practically on the same street.

My mileage vs previous years is about half for the car and a third for the motorbike. Mostly due to the fact that I'm leaving the country less often and the fun has gone out of touring around places when you never know what attractions are open or whether your weekend away results in quarantine.
My bicycle on the other had has tripled its mileage.

8737 cases for the weekend. only double last weekend's numbers. I was expecting worse.
I guess the only reason for this is because there are fewer tests done on weekends. Just wait until Wednesday.

Gathering is the perfect word to use in this context as it's a blanket/inclusive word which doesn't require the user to go into the minutiae of the reasons/words for a number of people being in one place at the same time. Note that the use of gatherings gave BAG scope to be specific about exceptions to this, i.e. demos.

Halloween masks have a whole new dimension to them. You can always throw rotten eggs from a socially irresponsible distance.
As for this years lazy costume, I think doctor/nurse will be all the rage with a labcoat and a facemask.

Before you fixed the typo I thought it was an event celebrating the horrors of St. Gallen...

Exactly. I was fearing perhaps 6,000 or so. This goes way worse than I dreamed possible.

I think that holiday is dead for this year, I doubt that the Thanksgiving will be big either.

'hysterical', 'alarmist' and 'over-the-top' is considered name-calling now? What would you say about the words virtue-signalers here use against 'skeptics' like: psychopath, toddler, idiot, etc. simply for addressing or suggesting alternative measures of protection?

And saying things the way they are is not passive-aggressive. It's literally the opposite.

This is absolutely absurd... I can understand wagging your finger at the obese population as they are a weight on the healthcare system. I eat a primarily plant based diet (only buy organic meat), practice sport at least 4-5 times per week, sleep as much as I can and take all of my vitamins...but NONE of that will take away the asthma I inherited at birth.
Plant-based diets aren't really optimal. There are testimonies out there of people healing/improving their immune conditions eating animal-based, low-carb/plant diets (all the way up to carnivore, which is only meat).

Anyway, my point was that any type of lifestyle improvement is good. Covid has been going on for 7-8 months and people have had plenty of time to exercise self-care in that time. Whether or not it protects against severe Covid fully, I don't know, but it doesn't hurt. But as others have mentioned it, people can't really be bothered.

So...Is Halloween gonna happen?
I've been shopping twice this past week and there's a noticable lack of anything Halloween related. One local shop has missed out Halloween altogether and gone straight to their Christmas displays. From what I've heard, it was decided that Halloween was "in bad taste" during a pandemic. You'll just have to celebrate it the old fashioned way before the American influence of trick or treat. When I was a kid, it was all about apple bobbing, ghost stories by candle light, or a trip up to Pendle Hill.
