I say those are the right and rather soft words towards the 'sceptics'. This is not a rather funny and jolly flat-earther gathering this is matter of life and death and people who cannot recognize this are either truly dumb or absolutely ignorant and not giving a damn about other people's lives. I have seen so many of this kind recently. Those who are worried that their gym will be closed down, those who afraid of "welfare state", those who say "oh well, old have to go eventually, this is nature" or instruct their subordinates to enter false names on name registration lists to make sure that "no employee will be put on quarantine" and so on. Disgusting.
Calm down, this is the bundesrat press conference from yesterday

So what then? More measures, then when cases begin to drop things are relaxed, cases begin to rise so measures are reintroduced ad infinitum (or until the end of spring 2021)? It's not really a very good strategy of dealing with the virus.
almost all virologists claims that virus will no go away, so its endless story

High Covid-19 cases in the US are due to the nation not shutting down as much as other countries, Fauci says.

"Spontaneous public gatherings will be limited to 15 people and telework is once again recommended, in a set of new Covid-19 restrictions that come into force across Switzerland on Monday.

The government made the announcement following an extraordinary meeting on Sunday at which the cabinet ministers agreed to make masks mandatory in all enclosed public spaces, including train stations, airports, shops, museums, restaurants, churches and even changing rooms in sports centres."

The new positive cases in the US and India are significantly lower today according to worldmeter. Hopefully it will continue on this path.

Anyone notice there were more cars on the road today than usual? I thought it could have been due to people avoiding public transportation at the moment.

Never trust the today figure on worldometer, it often takes a while to catch up. Particularly for the US.

It's possible - I see Reuters report 47,000. But don't read anything much into one days number. The daily total often varies quite a bit.

I've been using it recently to see how many cantons have reported the numbers daily.

There were fewer cars today than usual where we live, and we're on a main road into the city centre.

Ireland have just reacted by going into a 6 week lockdown

So they'll come out of lockdown in early December allowing just enough time for cases to rise forcing them to return to lockdown sometime during the Christmas holidays

Interesting take. From today's Metro stats in the UK, deaths from breast cancer up 46%, deaths from Alzheimer's up 75%, deaths from bowel cancer up 46%, deaths from heart disease for males at home up 26%, Diabetes deaths up 86%, Prostate cancer up 53%, Parkinsons's deaths up 79%. Disgusting indeed

I noticed that too .. My gym is right by the highway entry/exit ..
It's usually pretty busy at 7am but quiet yesterday and today.

Could be school holidays although we're in week two of that right now.

Care to explain how current deaths from breast, bowel or prostate cancer could have anything to do with coronavirus? They're all long-term chronic conditions, any effect out of lockdown or out of health system capacity won't appear til next year at least.

For that matter almost all of the things you mention come in to that category.

Also, in the interest of balance, why don't you provide the full context to some of those numbers...

Quote:
...while deaths of heart disease are below average in hospital, it has been above average at home....
Quote:
Usually around 300 people die each day in their homes in England and Wales – the latest ONS analysis confirms that even after the peak of the epidemic this has stayed at around 400 a day and shows no sign of declining – that’s one-third extra, very few of which are from Covid. ‘Non-Covid deaths in hospital have correspondingly declined, suggesting most of these deaths would normally have occurred in hospital

My husband is currently seriously ill in the UK and is on his 3rd week in hospital - he has been waiting to be transferred to a large London hospital for major surgery but as the ICU is full they cannot take him. His Drs are calling constantly as he is deteriorating daily - that is our experience.
Although he is not suffering from Covid - it has affected our mental health indirectly. You cannot visit him to lift his spirits as hospital visits are banned - my children cannot come and be with me as one is in lockdown near Liverpool and the other in Switzerland.
Life is so difficult for everyone for different reasons
I'm sorry to hear that.

Your case hasn't been widely reported: I'd expect the news to be full of such items, given how quick the media report alleged bed shortages.

One example:

I was referrring to the Graun article saying beds are full.

Subsequently debunked by the mayor of Manchester.
