Masks only increase fear and allow people to "think" they are more protected then they actually are. The numbers do not bear this out - unfortunately.
I ask honestly, how masks increase fear? what's the mechanism? I think I'm boring, I just see a mask.

I experience fear when a thug points a gun at me and asks for the wallet, or when the rear axle of the car slips and you did not tried to do that. But what is the relationship between masks a fear? Are grown ass men scared of them? Will future slasher films feature a killer behind a surgical mask?

Yes, I hope I can finish the second set of grades in all my classes before we have to close again.
So do I... and I hope this time I’ll have more than 2 hours to prepare and plan with the students before sending them home...

It’s still school holidays in my part of the world, and I’m not all that sure I’ll see them next Monday some of them never recovered work wise from the last confinement, I don’t know how we’ll manage with a new one

...then be one step ahead and assume we'll have a lockdown for 2 to 4 weeks from next Monday...although actually I wouldn't be surprised if younger kids are excluded this time.

That hospitalisation number will have them very worried.

You're supposed to weigh up the evidence and take a decision accordingly. The evidence shows us that masks are having an insignificant effect on the increase in Covid infections.
Where exactly is this evidence that you speak of -- that shows that masks are having an insignificant effect on the increase in COVID infections? The only way to test that theory is for everyone to go mask-less and then compare infection rates. Are you seriously not capable of understanding that infection rates might be increasing due to other factors?

Exactly. I know that I would be more in fear if someone close to me in the grocery store was coughing or sneezing and was NOT wearing a mask.

And double the prep work?

I agree, if they are closing schools they'll start with Uni,FH and vocational schools. We had several students and teachers at our school which were tested positive. According to COVID Trackers, the infections most likely happened outside of school.

That's original, it must have taken you a long time to come up with that one wasn't it Donald Trump who was using similar language last year?

You're supposed to weigh up the evidence and take a decision accordingly. The evidence shows us that masks are having an insignificant effect on the increase in Covid infections.
Same false information, same answer

Here is the evidence for masks. Where is the counter-evidence we are "supposed to weigh up"?

Apparently it's the shortest notice they've ever given for a press conference.

Yes, so it can't be that urgent.

Wouldn't they need to announce the "ausserordentliche Lage" first anyway?

Yes nothing new...

Its a difficult situation
The situation is deteriorating quickly
Goal is to avoid a lockdown
3 weeks ago our situation was good compared to other european countries now 3 weeks later we are worse of than most.
Important to maintain distance etc
The next 2 to 3 weeks are crucial
We are not at a point for a lockdown today, but this can change
Cantons are encouraged to act more quickly if needed

Re: Coronavirus

And the joke of the day (at least for where I work):
Homeoffice ist nicht nur eine Idee

Aber Berset betont auch: «Das Wichtige ist nicht, was wir Politiker beschliessen. Das interessiert das Virus nicht. Was zählt ist, was die Bevölkerung macht.» Homeoffice sei nicht nur eine schöne Idee, es sei wichtig, dass das jetzt umgesetzt werde.

Working from home is not just a nice idea, it needs to be implemented.

Stopped listening the conference. Journalist have made like 5-6 very punctual questions, instead of is there anything relevant to announce today?
