Re: Coronavirus

Sweden have again made a bold move in loosening the restrictions for the elderly. This is such a humane and basically the correct decision. Sweden argue that the elderly have suffered enough, and that depression, mental health issues, misery and cognitive decline ultimately surpass the risk to public health than that posed by Covid.

Having myself broken quarantine rules to visit an elderly relative last month, and experienced how heartbreaking it is to see the visible decline and misery first hand, I think this really is a move that should be applauded and copied.

The actual cost is just a part of it too, what I really meant was the cost to society, the cost on the environment, the cost to the deaf etc.
I agree that we should be sensitive to all details.

A piece. Not a day or week or whatever.

Current price in Lidl is CHF 9.90 for 50. 20 Rp a piece, yes.
I was told not to get those, was going to buy them too. Apparently the unwoven textile didn't seem quality to people who got them. Hence the low price.

Just passing the info on, don't have experience on those myself. But it is true that the masks I get in Manor and Coop are thick. And longer, than other ones I bought.

Re: Coronavirus

In one of the test links posted here it showed that Lidl mask came out on top. Don't know what to believe.

Will cut the Lidl mask at home to test if it has the sprayed molten plastic fiber layer. Apparently that is one of the most important layers.

I'd be more inclined to believe an objective test rather than a subjective announcement that they the masks just don't feel such good quality.

Re: Coronavirus

Czech schools are on TV. And freshly on a radio as well (we have a regular kid radio channel, nationally, and online for kids abroad also).

Still, edu people are saying that distant education doesn't reach everyone's needs, especially those in fragile situations prior Covid.

I agree that the elderly and vunerable should not be isolated. Isn't that the reason why we have the social-distancing and mask regulations?

Cost to the environment? No expert here, but looks it like any other plastic trash not deposited in the right place. Considering all the oil we're not burning by the demand crash in air travel, the virus has a positive effect on the environment.

Cost to the deaf? Masks are removable.

Cost to society, what it that? Something tangible and measurable?

They’ve been that price since Tuesday in the coop here.

In the meantime Neuchâtel has announced the new strict measures to take effect from 23h on Saturday.

https://www.arcinfo.ch/aio-gm/web/news/html/995332/

Gyms, pools, Bowling alleys and beauty parlours/spas etc closed.

Gatherings of no more than 10 people except for weddings, funerals , religious ceremonies and things in the public interest (voting centres etc).

Closure of all public places by 23h at the latest.

Four people maximum per table in public places unless they are from the same family.

No group musical activities (choirs, orchestras, band etc)

No contact sports other than at professional level and without spectators and individual training sessions.

Masks obligatory at markets and fairs and food and drink consumption forbidden.

They stopped short of moving all post obligatory education to distance learning which had been one of the possibilities mentioned earlier although they may announce further measures later on.

50% positivity rate from testing in Neuchâtel, holy crap!

Re: Coronavirus

So, we got NE in slowdown. Let's see what VD announces at 1.30pm. Letting schools open doesn't go well with the 50% pos numbers. 30% back home and all schools have been closed past 2 weeks, unies and high school for a month. It does look like that for some reasons places that avoided spread are being hit harder now (CZ, Israel, some cantons here). There must be some logic in it but which?

I am supposed to sing big tonight. Looks like I might just humm in my shower, instead.

Apparently it takes two weeks before the any round of measures start to take effect? Not that I expect those announced at the weekend to have much of an impact anyway.
