Corona what? Lets buy a caravan this weekend at the Bern expo - they are expecting 7000 visitors per day

Really?

https://www.srf.ch/news/schweiz/coro...ist-mit-corona
Looks like caravan buying will be cancelled if I understand the Bernese announcements correctly. What a shame.

I'd rather COVID than a caravan. The latter is one step away from camping. Sign of a warped and twisted mind.

GO IN A NICE HOTEL INSTEAD!

Re: Coronavirus

I thought I'd post a link to this article that I just came across, regarding new restriction announcements made today for various cantons, etc. in case anyone is interested:

Some Swiss cantons tighten Covid-19 measures, others wait
https://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/some-sw...-wait/46116310

"The total number of new nationwide cases recorded on Friday was 6,634, the Swiss health authorities said, and continues the steep rise during the week.

They confirmed that the country was now more badly affected than its neighbours: it now has 495 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Only France approaches these levels at 450 cases per 100,000. “We absolutely have to respect hygiene rules,” said Stefan Kuster from the Federal Office of Public Health."

we need to get the "English Coronavirus updates for Switzerland" dude to join EF. He is the only one who makes sense. I've given up on the BAG conferences...

I don't disagree .. I'm asking who says .. it's a moving target ..

Latest on the caravan website is from 18th Oct saying it was exempt as its a trade fair and not an event..

However your link from today says trade fairs are banned from midnight..

Possibly why their website is just about dead .. 20k people trying to find out.

In my UK hometown, positive cases are currently 1 person in 77

A friend of mine who lives in the UK was telling me about the "three-tier system" they have there now (with the third tier being the worst). He lives in a third tier area.

I hope that all your loved ones back home (and everywhere) stay safe!

Vast majority of mine are in tier 3 now as they're in Lancashire and Gt. Manchester. It was the funeral of a close friend's dad this week. My mates drove to the crematorium and sat outside in their cars to show support. It was as close as they were allowed to be.

A pensioner from Barnsley has said she doesn’t ‘give a sod’ about the ‘ridiculous’ tier three restrictions coming into force in the region this weekend.

‘I look at it this way, I’ve not got all that many years left of me and I’m not going to be fastened in a house when the government have got it all wrong.

So a pub inside a gym would be a perfect solution?
I can't believe they don't even sell alkoholfrei beer in the gym

They sell micro-brewery hipster beer in our climbing hall. Which makes very little sense to me, and not because I don't drink beer.

Scotland has now got a 5 tier system coming into place. Everything Boris announces has to be bettered with knobs on by Nicola Sturgeon, aka Miss Nippy

Keep them open even if they're significantly contributing to the spread of the virus?

Man, our species has become extremely spoiled. Even the concept of minor sacrifice is something that (some) people can't fathom. There are a lot of people in the world who have to walk 10 km's just to get drinking water. People who don't have the ability to feed their babies anything other than a mixture of flour and water. People with no access to healthcare or the medication they need. And yet here we are... complaining about not being able to go to a gym or a pub?

I'm sorry, but I think that's truly pathetic.

Also, you don't need a gym to exercise. And you certainly don't need a pub to be happy.
Sacrifice? In the past weeks there were school vacations, or still ongoing depending on the canton. People instead of staying home went all over Europe and returned to CH without a single day of quarantine. Today, a gym or a bar are significantly contributing to the spread of the virus?

Some people value the local bar over traveling to other country to visit relatives. This is life, people with diverse interests and goals. Somehow the political system in CH allows that people with really diverse values and interests can coexist in peace. It may not be the optimal for an specific goal such as controlling a pandemic, but we can live in peace on the long term.

PS. going full cynic, the train station will stay forever open to have a drink or two, buy drugs, and hang out with buddies in a warm place. Of course it contributes to the spread of the virus. Spare a bit of shaming for them?

Well, we intentionally stayed home this year while our son was on Autumn break (which ended last week), because of the virus, whereas normally we would at least go to Europa Park to celebrate his Oct. 12th birthday each year. We also did not have a birthday party for him this year, which he was fine with.

But the fact that some people did travel for the holidays and that that will contribute to the spread in no way negates the fact that pubs can spread the virus. It's not mutually exclusive. And yes, indeed, pubs do contribute to the spread of the virus.

More evidence points to bars adding to COVID-19 spread
https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-pers...ovid-19-spread

"A report from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) last week showed that people with COVID-19 were twice as likely to have visited an indoor dining establishment in the weeks prior to symptom onset, and now a new analysis of cell phone data from the Washington Post shows that states that reopened bars saw a doubling of COVID-19 cases 3 weeks later."

I expect that, similar to spring, additional capacity will be created and personnel from army etc. deployed to assist medical staff. I hope there is someone working on this.
My son was put on military active service during lockdown. Nothing has been rumoured as yet with regards to his active status being reactivated. Obviously on a personal note, I hope it stays this way. If he gets a call up, I will post it here.
