Popped out at Coop today for a quick bite, some milk, 2 packs of butter, AA batteries and a pack of frozen oven chips (my conscience told me to grab this green salad at the very last minute!)....the shop was empty, the shelves full, the cashier had time for a little chat, absolutely delightful! I still have to witness here the hysteria some of you seem to be describing.
I did a bit of shopping last night and my local Migros was also very quiet. Still no loo rolls but a fair supply of kitchen roll if you were desperate, but pretty much back to normal overall. Nipped into the Apotheke for some replacement electric toothbrush heads and got talking to the chemist. Told her I already some Ethanol, so she sold me some glycerin to make hand sanitiser. Jokingly asked her about using vodka instead and she said "Es ist besser innen"

About 50 turned out for the local U3A Conference this afternoon- and the 'old folks' luncheon we are hosting tomorrow, about 40 over 70s, 80s and 90s ... + 6 helpers in their 60s- is not cancelled.

Well in the Migros Restaurant Zurich City there is at least 200 at midday eating. Really should be closed!
They can't do that, you'll be out on the street. You live in that Migros-restaurant, obviously.

Back when I worked in a bakery, we used to wash our hands 20-40 times per shift and use an alcohol based wash before touching the product. Hands drying out to the point of skin cracking and bleeding was a big problem for us all. I'm allergic to lanolin and most Nivea products, so used a Body Shop hemp based hand cream, Neutrogena hand gel, and Carex Aloe Vera hand wash, but the best thing of all was soaking you hands in warm olive oil a couple of times a week. It's messy, but it made a huge difference to us.
My mum swore by olive oil too, after a day wearing gloves in surgeries etc.

Very glad you tested negative luv.
Did they ask you to go into the surgery for the test?
I called my Dr and told them how I felt. They asked if I had been in contact with anyone who had the virus and if I had flown anywhere over the last 2 weeks. I did fly to NL, but that is not yet on their danger list. I haven't knowingly had contact with a carrier, but in my work I'm in touch with hundreds of people from all over the world every week so they suggested I come to be tested to be sure.

I was planning to go to a congress in Germany this week. It has been cancelled now because of the situation and changed to an online event, saving me 8 hours of driving

I think my graduation ceremony might get cancelled. I don't mind but trying to explain it to the little one is a b.
