Todays number is 6126 cases out of 22k tests.

316 hospitalisations

72 death
Below the BAG/OFSP images there's a warning comment: due to the strong increase in the case number, several cantons, hospitals and test labs have difficulties to test quickly the suspected cases and there are delays in the declaration. Therefore, the number of new cases, hospital admissions, and deaths included in this report tend to underestimate the numbers for the last days.

In the last months hospital and admissions changed until 3-4 days later. Today, hospital admissions numbers are corrected up to 14 days later and deaths up to 5 days later.Due to the saturation of the health system, I think the daily numbers are representative of what happened a week ago.

The growth is coming down for "a week" now so this is realy good. The trend is there.

It would be pretty amazing if R didn't move at all as clearly there is some change in behaviour at a population level. Question is - will it get down below 1.

There's definitely a change..
As I mentioned before, I leave the gym at 7am, right by highway entry/exit.. It's much much less busy than a couple of weeks ago. Work from home would mostly explain that..

Is that a slight reduction?
Compared to last Tuesday, no. Last Tuesday the headline number was 5,949

https://www.20min.ch/story/bag-zahle...h-985864671360

In any event, throw in the backlog in testing and also the fact that Neuenburg are only testing people in risk groups* then there is certainly a pretty hefty undercount in there.

* In the Tagi ticker. Surely a sign of the complete failure of the Swiss test and trace.

See above comments plus axa's post, also the sky high positive rate confirms massive undertesting. Sadly the figure is becoming very unreliable.

Yes!! I was lying in bed thinking just that the other night...and tried to put the thought away as I felt I was being too paranoid, but it is true.

My dear neighbor who is quite elderly and doesn't believe in the danger of the virus, hasn't been seen in some time, I am worried. No lights on inside either...he had travelled to Vienna and then I saw him as he was coming home and he told me not to share the elevator as he was ill. I have knocked on his door, no answer.
Oh dear do you have a concierge? Any other neighbour to ask if they might know something? A regie to call? Just in case so he is not stuck in his appartement in need of help.

Panick attacks can be really scary If you dont know what they feel like & suddenly you have chest pains, what would you do?
Call my GP.
Yes, in the middle of the night too. They always give the number of the emergency-doctor on duty. Who comes to your house, depending on what you report.
Generally in Switzerland you do not go straight to the hospital yourself. In Corona times that should be followed even stricter. I know it's a strange concept to many as in their home-countries it's handled differently.

Re: Coronavirus

People are on edge, just now there was a big shouting match in the bus over masks, super loud high-pitched screaming match with six middle-aged ladies involved. Bus driver had to stop the bus and use his speaker to tell the mask dodgers to behave.

I had ring side seat, was tempted to join in but decided to stay well clear Stayed on for 2 extra stops just to enjoy the after party.

I got off the bus, threw my mask in the bin and was walking home in an empty street, then suddenly some random old lady started shouting at me that I don't have the mask on, neither did she. World is going bonkers

Yes in a non life threatening situation, that is the best option (even in no covid times).
But no one should ever feel that they should not seek medical help in order to not put additional strain on the system.

And apparently for some a panick attack can feel like a real heart attack. Not sure I would have the nerves to not call an ambulance

I don't think the stats are unreliable because nothing's perfect in this world. It's just that there's a delay between events, reporting and compiling all the data. So, decisions need to be taken in the context of 1 week delay in information.

Btw are we supposed to wear masks on empty streets too, in ZH? I don't want to be shouted at again. It was funny, but I was a bit shaken, old lady really gave it to me hard

I dont believe its so simple. There could be other reason for less testing. Like less people with symptoms. However, even on the record day, the growth was lower compared to the last week. So R is coming down. Someone in this thread wrote on Friday, that the R is at 1,1. Even in spring, the R came down to 1 before the lockdown.

Dang! You really attract those old ladies, recalling your story from the busstop

No mask in an empty street is required

The intensive care units in Switzerland currently have 27 percent capacity left. "If the numbers continue to grow as they are now, the intensive care units will be full in five days," warns Virginie Masserey, Head of Infection Control at the FOPH.

You are absolutely wrong.
Am I? So... a friend's dept where all her staff including herself tested positive in the same week and they had to close early for half term because they didn't have enough staff is just unlucky? Over 30 staff and 200 plus kids.

And I said all the germs. My comment wasn't covid specific. Schools are germ hotspots. A stomach bug, for example, can decimate a school very quickly.

However, AFAIK it's not been proven either way but anecdotally, and in the schools I've been in... yep. Hotspots.

I see others have disagreed with you too.

Assuming nobody leaves intensive care .. one way or another

We could see a net gain in availability
