Playing a bit with the data visualization tool of the FT https://ig.ft.com/coronavirus-chart/...&values=deaths

CH and Italy have the double death rate (7+) per million per day compared to the badly managed US (3). Czechia (still called Czech Republic by the FT) and Belgium are the top with 16-18 deaths per million per day.

@Mods, how can I modify image size on bbcode? tried several code suggestions and no results :/

.. Czechia (still called Czech Republic by the FT)..
Thank you, FT.

News from Eastern Front - It looks a bit better there, they've slowly dropped and plateau-ed. From 15000 cases per day to cca 7000. 1000 fewer hospitalized patients but still around 7000. R is around 1, but there is a momentum from the time of infection to hospitalisation and outcome. Still in strict lockdown, only foodstores and pharmacies opened, still curfew. People adopting a lot of shelter dogs because you can go out and walk your dog (I hope they keep them!). Many extra hospital beds created but not 100% occupancy. Primary schools might open again Nov 18! (all schools closed Oct 14). It is tough to connect through this distance but we do what we can. I can tell which DJ friend is sick by his/her radio time slot being pre-recorded. Kids with special needs have special assistance since doing school at home is much harder.

Ax - can you run the image through irfanview?

Brilliant, the city of Bern has decided to still hold their Christmas markets. Therefore I will not be able to leave my house in the old town this holiday season as everyone from around the country will be coming to the one city that was stupid enough to still have one.
So just because you want to go out nobody else should?

There won't be any alcohol served, but I don't think that is the driving matter for these markets? I've never thought about going to get pissed at a Xmas market, but maybe I'm the only one...
Don't count me in, I'll be skiing when another Christmas Fukhnuts is taking place.

AFAIK our platform is so ancient you can't use bbcode to resize images. If you could, we'd have far fewer frustrated members.

Cherry-picking, one gets all sorts of different comparisons depending on where on the x axis (days) you look.

Getting pissed at the Christmas markets is essential. How else are the stallholders going to sell CHF 100 candles infused with gold thread and cinnamon, gloves hand-knitted from Siberian mountain yaks, and kitchen utensils carved from exotic hardwoods to replace the perfectly good stainless steel utensils that nobody ever uses anyway?

As a result of the Bundesrat's Trump-like head in the sand strategy, Switzerland will be up there with the Czechs in a week or so.

I see the US didn't bother with waves - just been constantly bad throughout.

Easiest to stick the oversized image in there and wait for a mod to resize it

(yes, I know I did exactly that last ime....just got fed up looking for decent options myself!)

Re: Coronavirus

I'm a Restauranteur, and on the 'Stamm Tish' you hear a lot of rubish! The latest beats it all!!!

It's being told that a lot of deaths that were not Corona, are being put down as Corona on the Death Certificates. When family members complain, it's said that they are offered a sum of 2000 chufs to ignore the truth.

In our village a Guy died of cancer (been on his way for the last 18 months). The family were offered the 2m to agree to the change on the certificate.

All these stories are forth/fifth and sixth hand.

Shurly if this was true IT WOULD BE BLASTED ALL OVER THE BLICK AND TV!!!

We hold to all of the new regulation for Restaurant, to keep going. Then you get this sort of s**t going around as reason for the disbelivers to not belive in Corona.

Unbelivable!!!

av a Good day y'all, and stay healthy

GREG

You can go out - almost everything is open as per usual, is that not enough for you? We need crowds to gather in cold weather during a pandemic in order to suit your fancy?

Morally there should be a drawback in living somewhere as nice as Bern old town.
True - there are a few to be fair, but it is completely worth it. I'm a lucky gal.

Sweden have banned alcohol sales after 22:00 and all bars, clubs and restaurants (places with permission to serve alcohol) have to close by 22:30

Quote:
Sweden “currently is risking a situation like the one we had last spring," said Stefan Lofven at a press conference on Wednesday.

The country has witnessed record numbers of new infections over the past few weeks.

“All indications point in the wrong direction,” Lofven said at a joint news conference with Social Affairs Minister Lena Hallengren.

Funny thing is beers are as expensive as Switzerland but with Swedish income. They have crazy alcohol taxes over there

10,198 a week ago today. Almost certainly past the peak now, and all without a lockdown.
