As one needs a residence permit to work in Switzerland then one falls into the definition of "immigrant".

Re: Coronavirus

Open your Camera and then focus on 3d bar code. That's all you need to do. If you don't want to then, at a minimum, you have to give your name and your phone number.

They don't like requiring you to do this, but it did (does) mean that they can stay open.

You certainly do have the option of (trying to) go elsewhere. But good luck.

Re: Coronavirus

Alarmingly we have a sudden rash of Covid cases in our social area.

A friend who visited our home for about 20 minutes on Wednesday evening, just texted to say she has been tested positive. We all wore masks, kept our distance without customary hugs and ventilated rooms after her visit.

We all have the Swiss Covid App installed, but nothing has shown up on it.

Has anybody been warned by this app??

I have a friend whose husband caught the virus. One week later she had it too. Both had gone to the doctor to get their Covid tests. Both have the app and neither had been warned of the virus, despite living in the same household.

I think they actually need to give the app the information about being positive. The app is not a test.
But first, they need to have the app on their phone and have taken their phone on their visit.

The way it should work is the apps on both phones will see each other, one of the users then enters the I’ve got it data, and the app looks for contacts and those contacts are warned.

Seeing as the majority of Swiss phones don’t have the app, or because people turn off the app (because Bluetooth drains their battery), or their phone we are getting less than hoped for results.

In principle the app is designed to track people staying for longer than 15 mins within 2 meter distance, so if you kept some distance it is reasonable you were not warned, isn't it?

Another point which I mentioned once, the app tracks phones, not people. If while at home they keep their phones more than 2m apart, no way the app could know that they are close. I agree it sounds weird though, you would imagine both phones would lay at some point on the table in front of the couch

By the way, I have not installed the app because I think it is useless. Either it is "not sensitive enough" or it would give way too many unnecessary warnings

Neither the app, nor the phone, can actually measure the distance. You are either in contact via BlueTooth or you are not. But in the vast majority of cases that is going to be (a lot) more than 2m.

I use an app on my phone that uses BlueTooth and it stays in contact over 10-15M Depending on walls and floors, etc.

I think that's unfair on the business who are struggling enough as it is. I presume they are instructed to ask for the info. Apart from that, ultimately it's designed to help prevent the spread of the virus which has to be a good thing. Personally I feel a bit more reassured by it. The only irritation is when I don't have a pen with me and have to use theirs which has probably been handled by many other people.

I assumed the distance was inferred from the strength or energy of the signal, with whatever margin of error this may have. I do not know if this is in fact technically possible, you may know better. From the BAG site, "A notification is triggered if the app user has spent at least 15 minutes at a distance of under 1.5 metres from at least one infected person within a 24-hour period. It is possible for someone to be under 1.5 metres away from several infected individuals for less than 15 minutes within the space of a day. As these encounters may exceed a total of 15 minutes, the Swiss Covid app will notify the app user that there is a risk of infection". Also in the FAQ they say:
"Why do I not receive a warning from the SwissCovid app about a possible infection even though I was informed about encounters in the weekly information provided by iOS 13.6?
The iOS 13.6 count takes account of neither the distance nor the duration of the encounter. Both of these factors are, however, decisive for the issuing of a warning about a possible infection. In addition, iOS may count the same encounter more than once.
You can therefore ignore the notification from the iOS system – from iOS 13.7 this information is no longer shown in the notification; we therefore recommend that you update your mobile phone.
Only notifications via the SwissCovid app are relevant with respect to a possible infection with the new coronavirus."
