| | Re: Coronavirus | Quote: | | | | | Or the other way round - governments couldn't encourage masks until they had enough to go round.
I remember last spring, all pharmacies had signs saying: "We don't have any face masks or hand sanitizer" (or gloves or even thermometers!). They were scarce even for health workers!
In order to implement a mask mandate, you need to make millions of them available for the population. Otherwise, medical stocks would get looted. Indeed, there were reports of ambulances being broken into for supplies. | | | | | They would have suggested home made cloth masks, however they did not. Looks like at least 50% of people don't wear 'medical' style masks with mandates because they are not mandated.

| | Re: Coronavirus Covid Deaths Mount in France and the Czech Republic as Lockdowns Fail | Quote: | | | | government actions such as border closures, full lockdowns, and a high rate of COVID-19 testing were not associated with statistically significant reductions in the number of critical cases or overall mortality. | | | | | | Quote: | | | | It seems likely that one will not have to even compare economic deprivation with loss of life, as the final death toll following authoritarian lockdowns will most likely exceed the deaths from letting people choose how to manage their own risk. After taking the unprecedented economic depression into account, history will likely judge these lockdowns to be the greatest policy error of this generation. | | | | | | The following 2 users would like to thank V__ for this useful post: | | This user groans at V__ for this post: | |

| | Re: Coronavirus | Quote: | | | | | Masks were discouraged until the moment the Swiss Federation purchased some 1B worth of masks I guess some of you want to forget that
Anyway, from the cool and logical Sweden, students organize parties to infect themselves from covid so they can be immune and not be bothered anymore. | | | | | Ah, Sweden, the country with no "second wave" Sweden has reported 397 Covid deaths in the past nine days, more than either Norway or Finland have announced during the entire pandemic.
Here are the confirmed cases due to the coronavirus in Sweden that the Public Health Authority reports - the figures are updated once a day, Tuesday - Friday after 14:00.
From our archaelogical Dept. | Quote: | | | | | Cases already rose again in Sweden in July and August.
Sweden didn't panic though as their chief epidemiologist Anders Tegnell said don't worry about cases, rather worry about the number of people entering hospital. Now they have a very low number of new cases. | | | | | | The following 7 users would like to thank marton for this useful post: | |

You are not the first or last to be taken by the corona hysteria | | | | | This is what I was alluding to earlier, it's remarkable how many people have been manipulated by the media and hapless politicians trying to firefight the virus without having any sort of long term strategy. The positions that are considered "hardline" (anti-mask, anti-lockdown) were settled scientific positions pre-March 2020. One of the reasons behind Sweden's success is a consistent strategy since March which has led to less hysteria, less anger, less panic, less resentment and less Covid fatigue.

Finland and Norway together have the population of Sweden and they are 70% and 40% less populated than Sweden

Care to explain why Sweden has roughly 10 times the covid deaths of Finland and Norway combined for the same population?

Finland and Norway together have the population of Sweden and they are 70% and 40% less populated than Sweden | | | | | Not only that, there's population density (for example Stockholm is twice is densely populated as Oslo or Helsinki, and also twice as big), demographics (Sweden has a far bigger immigrant population of higher risk ethnic groups like Somali, Eritreans and Syrians), social customs, lifestyle etc. It's certainly not scientific in anyway whatsoever and it's basically cherry picking.
The big picture remains that Sweden has about the 25th worst death rate in the world, not bad considering they never had masks, never had lockdowns. For people who value freedom of choice, they certainly have number one spot!

Its no wonder why Sweden has more deaths per capita than N or F. What is more interesting is that many countries with crazy lockdowns have higher death numbers.

Tagesanzeiger reporting that additional restrictions likely to come in end of this week. Maximum 2 households meeting privately and maximum 2 households on one restaurant table (in addition to the existing 10 people / 4 people restrictions respectively).
So far the Tagi have a very good record with these reports. https://www.tagesanzeiger.ch/berset-...n-706129385899 (requires registration)
