| | Re: Coronavirus | Quote: | | | | | I've just been informed by a friend in Luzern that restaurants will indeed have to close by 19:00 there. Luzern is on the BAG list that Sigh linked as a well-behaved canton, so either the list is out of date, or Luzern didn't agree the extended hours with its many neighbours. Or nobody knows what they're talking about. | | | | | It's not only the restaurants but all stores/shops too, so it's good to know I think.
More about the new restrictions which apply nationwide here https://www.bag.admin.ch/bag/en/home...es-bundes.html | This user would like to thank greenmount for this useful post: | |

I’m not entirely sure how accurate the list that Sigh posted is because Bern is on there and it currently has an R of greater than 1.
The Romandie cantons have all agreed to take advantage if the exemption and keep restaurants open until 23h. Some are also allowing bars to open too but Neuchâtel is not one of them.

| | Re: Coronavirus
The list of the "good cantons" currently is: GE, NE, VD, VS, FR, JU and OW.
Frankly, their numbers are not that great either so I am not sure how long they will be "good". Especially small cantons like OW could see their prevalance per 100k shoot up with not that many new cases.

| | Re: Coronavirus
Because of Covid, life expectancy for men in Canton Tessin in the first wave of the pandemic dropped from 82 to 76 years. Around Genfersee the drop was "only" 3 years.
I guess by now it is a bit further down. Link is a ticker so probably inly valid for a few hours https://www.tagesanzeiger.ch/corona-...z-707221502952
(I hope I don't need to tell you how this figure is calculated)

According to the latest official figures from ETH (November 28) and BAG (December 6), this applies to 13 cantons. The number has been updated. The exception currently only applies to 7 cantons: Friborg, Geneva, Jura, Neuchâtel, Obwalden, Vaud and Valais.
The western Swiss cantons of Vaud, Neuchâtel, Friborg, Geneva and Jura have jointly decided that their restaurants can stay open until 11 p.m. In the canton of Valais until 10 p.m.
The situation in Appenzell-Innerrhoden, Bern, Lucerne and Zug has deteriorated in the last few days in a way that no longer allows for exceptions. The remaining cantons did not meet the conditions. https://www.20min.ch/story/diese-kan...n-388399438646 |

Once a Canton has stopped being part of the problem they get to do everything to again become part of it day before yesterday.
And, of course, solidarity is thrown out the window. There's no reason to stop granularisation at the Cantonal level, by the same logic town ABC should not be subjected to the measures just because the entire rest of the Canton has a high number of infections.

Do your job. Or your voters will suffer.

What will happen however is cross-Cantonal "tourism" to use other Canton's reduced measures. With the effect that the spreading goes back up even faster.

Sweden could be forced to seek emergency aid from Finland, Norway or Denmark as its hospitals struggle to cope with the number of coronavirus patients, a senior doctor has warned.
The Swedish Health and Welfare Agency reached out to health authorities in other Nordic countries earlier this week to start discussions on how best to relieve Sweden of its burden under the Nordic Agreement on Public Health Preparation.

I've read here on these very pages that Sweden has handled the pandemic better than any other nation, by largely ignoring it.

For today that would be 16:34, according to MeteoSchweiz. | | | | | I think, shops should but closed complityely. no food -> no people -> no virus. win-win
