Berset making an announcement today at 1230 following discussions with the Kanton's Health Ministers, who are asking for a lockdown and possibly the closure of ski lifts. Reported in 20 Minutes.
Like a full lockdown we had at the start? I thought if it comes, it will be announced on Wednesday?
They better hurry up with a full lockdown so that my goats don't have to go to work. Some employers are really stressing my goats with making mockery of the rules.

We were on Neuchâtel last Saturday. Several small vignerons and encaveurs open for the first time after the 2nd lockdown.

I also doubt it, but its undeniable that Bern has had a tidal wave of Romandie flooding the streets during the last few Saturdays. The only language I would hear on the streets was French and the streets have been absolutely packed like no other time of year.
Yes - nothing but French heard in the old town during their lockdown...I have some friends in Lausanne and it was one big party on Instagram over the weekend, it seems people will never learn.

The situation is indeed bad in third world countries. I have a friend who moved to Columbia to work as an architect and had to come back due to a massive crime increase. A very laid back hippie dude who said he was afraid to leave his house. We do have to consider the effect the virus has on the world, unfortunately it is a cruel reality.

Now that we know an effective vaccine will soon be here, it is time to go into a stricter lockdown. Close all restaurants and bars - offer them financial assistance until the most at risk get vaccinated. Limiting their hours of operation is effectively putting them out of business. The holiday season is essentially these type of businesses bread and butter - they will not survive the next year without some kind of help. Keep all stores open at normal hours so they do not get too crowded - I really do not understand the decision to limit shopping hours...it makes zero sense. Finally, close the ski slopes - it has been proven there is no safe way to keep them open.

I thnk it will be mainly about the "traffic light", i.e. defining thresholds that then trigger sets of measures.

The problem they will have designing this is that they basically make the decision for Friday already. Which increasingly look like closing of restaurants, leisure, potentially shops for areas above a certain R and with certain hospital levels.

I don't drive a Ferrari. I don't even own one anymore. But I had a good laugh at the idea of money-obsessed FMF being concerned about Third World people. How much have you ever done for them? How much time have you given, how much money have you donated?

Virtue signalling at its finest.

And I really wouldn't put too much stock in Oxfam's alarmist marketing. They have a bit of a reputation for that sort of behaviour.
People who are obsessed by money don't tend to retire at 52.

I think there's a difference about being obsessed by money and obsessed by making the money you do have go as far as it can.

Look it up yourself - there are plenty of articles showing overcrowded ski lifts with zero social distancing measures.

Colombia isn't a third world country!!! At least not in the modern sense of meaning economically undeveloped. On the HDI scale of low - medium - high - very high, Colombia ranks as "high".

We don't have an effective vaccine yet, nor is there any evidence that these lockdown measures will bring down cases. There is little logic to closing stores and restaurants at 7pm, when offices and schools remain open.

OK OK, if you are going to be pedantic about it, Columbia is a country where abject poverty and corruption is prevalent.

We will have an effective vaccine in January - offices and schools should also be closed. There is plenty of evidence that lockdowns work...but as we all know, you won't see it that way.

We will likely have a vaccine in January, until it is rolled out though and everyone is vaccinated will be long beyond that. We can't stay in a hard lockdown until that happens, and as we have seen, other lockdown measures aren't effective.

We went to Neuchâtel to buy some wine after the 2nd lockdown. Then went up to La Chaux de Fonds to sleep. As expected, no one on the streets, a third or even less tables occupied in the restaurant, so a good choice to avoid the crowd

Sunday morning arrives, the Sun shines, I propose to my wife a coffee in La Vue des Alpes before driving home and total fail......it was Christmas market up there A 100-200+ place parking lot completely full, people packed together around the vin chaud/glühwein stand, the terrace full of people, 10+ people tables, no one wearing a mask, of course everyone using the same toilets......we just drove away and had a coffee at a deserted gas station on the highway. I know hypocrisy is a strong word and don't use it that much but I don't see the point in cancelling Christmas markets on city centers only to have a Christmas market up in the mountains

That was then, this is now.
They take it more seriously now they are threatened with closure.
I took a look at the Laax queue cams on Sunday, there was a security guard at all the valley lifts.
Ticket numbers restricted. I think they have done enough.

Swissmedic may approve the vaccine in January but that is not certain.
I think we’ll have a while to wait before there is sufficient vaccine uptake in Switzerland.

Infuriating - I will go to Germany or France if I have to...governing powers in Switzerland are really doing everything wrong.
