The Great Escape! 200 Brits have disappeared overnight from Verbier Hotels. Their escape was camouflaged by the fog. Uneaten meals were found outside their rooms. No one knows where they are! I wonder if they have been digging a tunnel, or are trekking through the snow to France ^^

Presumably got on a plane to somewhere which still flies to the UK. Well hopefully... worse case scenario they've booked an Airbnb and are carrying on holidaying.

Realistically it was never going to be possible to enforce a quarantine on people who aren't resident. They'll just leave the country - and it has proven so.

Or they were abducted by aliens.

Also looks like a move the municipality of Verbier would have nothing against.

I'm looking for news on shopping in Germany (Basel to Weil-a-R). I've taken a look over the interwebs, but I can't find a definitive source for what's going on following the closure of the border pre-Christmas.
Can anyone share some handy links and/or provide an update?

Baden-Wuerttemberg withdrew the 24 hour exemption for border canton visitors. You therefore are subject to quarantine if you enter Germany.

You can go over to collect packages from the packet shops if you can prove that they were ordered before December 22nd.

I don’t understand why they’d need to “disappear” ... you can get permission to fly home before the 10 days quarantine is up.

They will be caught when they nearly reach sanctuary and accidentally order a "Gin and slimline".

I'll keep the window open, in case they went carolling.

This is incredibly irresponsible. Sure, they came before the variant restrictions were put in place but you don’t sneak out like a thief in the night when they know the rules change frequently. Since the hotels know their names and contact information I wonder how many will be asked to provide it to the Swiss authorities for whatever follow-up and fines they want to pursue.
