And that is the stupid thing about it all- the ONLY good thing about not being able to spend Christmas with grandkids, was I would not catch a cold. We have not seen anyone since last Monday when we went to France to do a big shop in HyperU. Gel, mask, more gel, wash hands on return, etc. Grrrrr

If you don't mind me asking, what are your blood groups. It seems there is a big difference in both, being infected and how severe the symptoms are with each blood group.

O (which is zero in German) is the most resilient. Oddly there seems very little info on this - and a lot more Covid statistics. Perhaps it's not politically correct to know more thna the bare figures...

The blood type issue still confuses me. I read very different things from (1) no significant impact at all, over (2) less risk of infection but when you get it same severity as for other groups, to (3) less severe illness. From what I recall on (2) there was a study in Denmark where I found the % were very similar for O or not O.

I am very sorry to read that you have contracted the virus and wish you a speedy recovery.

May I ask you about the skin rash. I recall you mentioned that a relative of yours had a rash and tested positive for the virus. I wondered if you might describe the rash.

I know of many families who have all had the virus and yet one person didn't contract it. I think your husband is a Doctor, so I am sure you are both in the best position to know how to control your contact. Bloody awful and annoying situation though all the same.

Re: Coronavirus

Yes, the second study quoted in the second article is that one I remembered. I did not think the differences between general distribution of blood type and distribution of the Covid cases were that impressive. Maybe as type O I was simply hoping to get a larger advantage ...

Re: Coronavirus

Thanks for your kind wishes.

My SIL got a really bad angry rash on hands- like severe exzema (sp?) - thought at first it was just due to increased hand-washing- but he was told when he tested +, that it was one of the symptoms for many.

The irony is that we have been isolating and been so careful. Apart from one visit to my brother and walk outside in lovely weather- and 1 shop across the border. Apart from that- been isolating.

What went through our minds in 2020, the year when we all started to fear having a cold, namely is this cough due
to a bad cold or could it be Covid-19.

Actually one of my son's friends did not contract the virus, despite his whole family having it, including a brother who he shares a room with. I don't know all the details but some anomaly was discovered in his blood and he has been asked to give blood for testing to determine whether he has a natural immunity.

Re: Coronavirus

JackieH, sorry to hear that you tested positive. Stay calm and don't put additional stress on your body. All will be good soon.

I had a rash on my arm that started 30 days ago and lasted approximately 7-10 days. Back then you mentioned Corona and I checked online but none of the photos matched my rash.

My skin is completely back to normal, but I see few 2mm discolourations patches. Apparently skin discolouration can be a symptom of Corona too. Maybe they were already there, so not sure.

I'm so sorry to hear that. (I just saw your post now).

I really hope you're feeling okay and that the symptoms don't become any worse. I assume you and the OH are both in quarantine. If there is anything you need put in the Post (meds, etc.), please do not hesitate to send me a PM. x

Both my son, age 39, and his wife, age 36, had it. She got it first and gave it to him. Both were sick, but not seriously. They gave it to all 3 kids, ages 19, 15 and 8 who were never sick. All 5 have now tested negative.

Their method of monitoring their recovery was to smell an open bleach container. 9 days and they could not smell it. 10th day they could. 11th day, they tested negative. 25th day, they are both in Vegas, playing roulette. They are American. What can I say?

Wow so kind. We have been isolating for so long- so this is the stupid thing. Apart from 1 shop last Monday, and 1 walk by the lake week before that.

But thanks, we have brilliant neighbours and great friends locally, so we are lucky- and a freezer full of goodies.
