We have just lost a cousin in NJ and last night a nephew in Cape Town, age 50. This is getting quite scary.
So sorry to hear that, itís very scary indeed. We have a 36 year old niece with zero comorbidities currently hospitalised near London with COVID. Fortunately she seems to be improving and is not intubated but still....

Just received the login details for the live stream funeral of my aunt an uncle on Thursday, itís over five weeks since they died just two days apart but funerals are taking a long time at the moment due to backlogs.

I'm so sorry for your losses Jackie!

It is truly terrifying right now that none of our future's are certain and our fates very much lie in other people's grasp of commonsense and behaviour.

Why is that? People wear masks while shopping, mostly don't talk or talk quietly, don't stay on the same place for long. The only risky place is the fitting room.
You obviously haven't been out in the sales then.

Please, this isn't Facebook.
If you follow the guidelines you're not going to get it.
If you do get it the chances of survival are @99% overall.
Adjust your behaviour to suit your risk profile.

Yet another press conference today at 14.00

Point de Presse heute 14.00 Uhr in Bern zum Stand der Dinge. Mit EKIF, VKS und BAG.

".... We need to monitor the situation ... " Probably..
".... The situation is worrying ...."

".... Limit your social contact as much as possible ... "

" .... Keep your distance ...."

".... We don't know...."

I'm so sick of this government and those bloody useless press conferences!

If you're that concerned for yourself then just stay at home. Unless you're a key worker, stuck in a hospital or a care home then it's 90% your own fault if you catch Covid! Stop blaming everyone else!

Our nephew lived in a multi-generational home- with 3 young boys and his parents and an aunt- and was responsible for feeding them all and their education- self employed. Keep your stupid comments for yourself

As I saw on a facebook meme today ...

If we think this is bad..
In 20 years time the world will be run by people who were home-schooled..
By alcoholics..
Not sure, if that's worse than your common granola vegan/spiritualist homeschoolers?

I may be a right winger and an atheist - but god bless teachers.
Thank you.

Minus the god part.

Anyways - even presential teaching has its quacks, to teach while supervising kids at home on quarantine gets tricky sometimes.

Excuse me!!!
I am extremely careful as I am in a risk group. The Swiss government is playing fast and loose with people's lives, very few restrictions and catering to the ski resorts by keeping them open.
On top of that you have the morons who don't think that mask, social distancing or hand sanitizer regulations apply to them.
I don't think it is unreasonable of me to find this situation frightening!!

Re: Coronavirus

Is it only me surprised by lack of state-level initiative for promoting proven viral precautions like taking Vitamin D + supplements?
governments invents and reinvents a lot of different BS, running on circle, but even not suggesting so simple and effective solution
Why not take blood tests and made suggestions regarding vit.D doses and so on? I think its much more effective to reduce hospitalizations/deaths than lockdowns
Or i just missed something?

You missed the story of Linus C. Pauling and the vitamin C as cure-all solution. Even a Chemistry Nobel Prize could not resist the temptation of clear, simple and wrong answer to a complex problem.

Current understanding is that children are far less likely to be responsible for transmission than adults.

Nobody's calling vitamin D a cure-all, but there's enough evidence to suggest an amelioration of COVID-19 effects that points to a benefit in supplementation. It's all about getting marginal updates to your priors.

I'd hand out 2000 UI of vitamin D3 per person, as well as 1000mg of n-acetylcysteine[1] (plentiful glutathione is essential for good lung function) and possibly quercetin too. None of these things will make you immortal, but there are documented benefits.

[1] Ironically, you should take vitamin C with this.

It's certainly not unreasonable for you to be personally concerned.
However your first post 'It's terrifying' implies everyone should be terrified.
There are impressionable people and youngsters reading this forum.

Ha, appreciate the irony of Vitamin C.

I don't know the amount of Vitamin D in osteoporosis supplements, but the population at risk is already getting their dose. So, is there a difference between elder people taking osteoporosis supplements and the rest? That's a huge natural experiment.
