We have recently lost a young cousin- just 50, fit, but with diabetes and a genetic pool which made him more vulnerable. Self-employed, he leaves a family destitute and 3 teenage boys for his widow to raise. In a country where the support is just no there- family will probably lose their house and the kids leave their school.
But that is OK- I mean, he had a pre-existing condition- so totally fair enough

| | Re: Coronavirus | Quote: | | | | | Bear in mind they check something less than 10% of positive tests for the RNA. So this means the actual number is somewhere north of 1,300. | | | | | From what I read, in yesterday's press conf BAG estimated that 5-6% of new infections now would be these variants.

| | Re: Coronavirus | Quote: | | | | | What is your problem? We know that you are unlikely to die if your are young and healthy. There are thousands of studies on this. Then there are millions of repititions of all arguments in this thread, so feel free to read from page 1. | | | | | This isn't simply a matter of how many people die or what percentage die from Covid. Long-COVID affects a lot of people, including some needing to go on oxygen support at home, for months, once they're out of the hospital or who have had severe effects from their organs beginning to shut down while in the hospital, etc.
My friend's 59-year old mother just came out of a coma due to COVID a few days ago. She's alive and is expected to survive, but she is practically brain dead right now and will have kidney failure for the rest of her life. She's very similar to a stroke victim right now in terms of behavior, motor skills, etc.
She was perfectly healthy prior to contracting Covid.
Here are some stories from people who have been experiencing "Long Covid:" https://www.longcovid.org/stories | The following 2 users would like to thank Pancakes for this useful post:

| | Re: Coronavirus | Quote: | | | | | I’m appalled by the situation where the lockdown has zero effect. The approach is completely abysmal.
This is hidden in terms of no simple daily data on healthy /young /under 50s .
The exact demographic that Lockdown is destroying.
Am I wrong ? | | | | | I don't think you're wrong, but at the same time I don't think there has been a cover-up.

I thought the format would return to normal now I’m on a new page but somebody else has posted that enormous image now.

Hi All
I approach this question from a job security point of view
Can i hear your thoughts on whether todays announcement would in any way prevent or stop companies from carrying out restructurings and firings?

Maybe military leave too, but I'm not sure.

I’m confused. What does Mandatory working from home actually mean?
Take our femme de menage, she comes twice a week for 3 1/2 hours. We pay her salary and AVS contributions.
Obviously she cannot do her job from her apartment.
Are we to furlough her (again) or is it OK for her to come and do her job. If she is furloughed can we claim compensation if we continue her salary/contributions?

From what I understand it is only mandatory if possible.
When not possible a mask has to be worn.

| | Re: Coronavirus | Quote: | | | | | So, which shops are essential?
Tom | | | | | Which shops can still be open?
Shops selling groceries and other short-term and daily necessities remain open. Pharmacies, drugstores, optician's shops and hearing aid shops will also remain open. Shops that offer maintenance and repairs can also remain open, for example laundries, sewing shops and bicycle shops. Likewise, DIY and hobby markets as well as garden centers and flower shops. The same goes for gas stations. The collection of ordered goods on site is still allowed.
Which products are allowed in these shops?
In addition to food and drinks, drugstore items such as soap, shaving accessories, baby care products, detergents and cleaning agents and stationery items can also be sold. Electronic accessories such as batteries and rechargeable batteries, as well as crockery, cooking utensils and candles are still available in the store, as are hosiery , baby clothes and pet food and cut flowers . https://www.20min.ch/story/wo-und-wa...n-205089098079 | The following 3 users would like to thank Sigh for this useful post:

People have to home-office. Could somebody home-office at someone else's home-office, as long as it's not the real office and they don't need to take a train there?
