| | Re: Coronavirus | Quote: | | | | | Well, if you scroll back a couple of pages you will see my story. In a nutshell I’m 66, a T1 diabetic and a cancer survivor. I logged on the Cantonal web-site, answered a few questions and got the appointment.
I had previously advocated that health workers get the vaccine first but it didn’t look like that was going to happen, so I got in the queue. | | | | | I think you actually posted it on the vaccine thread rather than this one.

Was it not Wigmore from Leave UK who boasted about the 'Wiggy von Trapps' making the great escape from Wengen when told to isolate. He and his family drove to the airport and took TGV/Eurostar to get back to UK instead of following instructions from CH Government and thought it was hilarious and heroic. | | | | | He (at least claimed) to have left Switzerland before the enforced period of quarantine, so he did not break instructions according to his narrative at least.

However, I would agree it's a moot point and he clearly didn't intend to break the law despite his rather entitled comments in the British press.

| | Re: Coronavirus | Quote: | | | | | We have recently lost a young cousin- just 50, fit, but with diabetes and a genetic pool which made him more vulnerable. Self-employed, he leaves a family destitute and 3 teenage boys for his widow to raise. In a country where the support is just no there- family will probably lose their house and the kids leave their school.
But that is OK- I mean, he had a pre-existing condition- so totally fair enough | | | | | Father has just died, and mother on her way out- in their 80s, so very different.. 45 year old sister, mother of 2, hanging by a thread. I am in total agreement with you that you have been subjected to some very unkind personal comments recently. I reported one which I thought really stretched the mark. I don't know if there was any consequence, and I don't know if you are reading this, but please be assured that not everyone supports that type of communication. I wish you well.

People seriously - be kind! I’ve not been keeping up, so I don’t know what was done, but JackieH is one of the best people on EF & has gone through a lot this year... heck, so many people have. Be kind!

I am so sorry, logged off due to unpleasantness.
Please can I make it clear it is not my father who died. but the father of our cousin in Cape Town, 50 and father of 3, who died a few days ago, his mother very ill and his sister too. I copied from the post I made about him at the time, and did not realise it would possibly read as being my father.
My parents are long gone, sadly.
Will respond to pms tomorrow. Logging off for now.

| | Re: Coronavirus | Quote: | | | | | Yes, so are the number of cases and number of hospitalisations.
The numbers are always given as the difference from the previous day. | | | | | Again confusing data. Stating 53 as difference means nothing .
Quoted by other forum members as daily deaths also.
I can’t get 53 from any difference in last 2 days.
12th Jan 40
13th Jan 18
6th January had 53 fatalities.
So I dont get insulted again, I am not casting doubt on what you have posted.
Also surely it should be clear if an increase or decrease.

What they actually mean is: today's total deaths - yesterday's total deaths = 53.

Also surely it should be clear if an increase or decrease. | | | | | It’s how they do it. Due to the way the cantons report their numbers the info is never totally up to date.
The daily numbers are always
Total number of deaths on day Y minus total number of deaths on day Y-1 which gives the increase in deaths.
Those deaths didn’t necessarily occur on that day, they may have occurred several days ago but have only been reported by the canton on that day.
If you look at the detailed graphs on the site you will see the orange bits at the top of the bars, that’s the data that has been added retrospectively.
That’s why the 7 day rolling average is a better indicator of the situation.

I know by heart little details matter, but I'm amazed at how hard to see and tackle are little details. Depending on the syringe, covid19 vaccine vials contain 5 or 6 doses. By using low dead-volume syringes vaccine supply increases 20%.
People has been working like crazy the last year to get develop and mass produce the vaccine and a tiny component in the supply chain can make a 20% difference, mind blown https://www.politico.com/news/2021/0...e-doses-457017 | The following 2 users would like to thank Axa for this useful post: | |
