In Zurich with a toddler

Hello everyone,
I have arrived in Zurich two days ago and don't know anyone here. I would like to take my 2 yo daughter for sightseeing. Apart from the zoo, which are the other places I can take her to?
Secondly, are there any parent's groups where I can take her to socialize with other children of her age?
Lastly, where can I buy a second hand stroller/ pram for her?

Thanks in advance,

Apart from the zoo...

Apart from the Zurich Zoo there is a special kinderzoo in Rapperswill and there is Wildpark Langenberg (the part right under Adliswill is very suitable for Toddlers, but go when the weather is nice, since it is mainly in the forest)

With bad weather the big covered playcentres can be a succes for a 2yr old (ours loves them)

And just spontaneously walk in at your local "matter und mutter beratung"
http://www.gis.stadt-zuerich.ch/cms/mvb/map_qgs.html those are nice places to meet local mums and dads (mostly mums), and people who know what is nice for the little ones close to your home.

Welcome!

For second-hand anything, you can try www.tutti.ch.

Here I searched in Canton Zurich for "buggy". You can also use "Kinderwagen".

Re: In Zurich with a toddler

To meet people, casually, you can drop in to any of the so-called "community centres" (in German: Gemeinschaftszentrum). They are run by "pro juventute", a non-profit quango, and the City of Zurich, and each one has a slightly different range of child-oriented activities.

They are casual, easy-going, low-pressure places, so that you and your daughter can can just go by and have a chat to whomever happens to be there, and either buy a coffee or bring your own. Some have toddler play-groups, or physical exercises for mother-and-child or father-and-child, or dances, or craft courses. They can be good places to learn conversational German. Some have a library or a workshop. Some have indoor playrooms. They're great to find a toilet, and offer a sheltered space in cold weather, and they also often have outdoor play equipment or a garden.

They're typically open from at least mid-morning (or earlier) until the late afternoon, sometime with event in the evening. They are all free just to drop in and hang around, although the groups and courses charge a relatively low fee.

Here's a map showing where they all are, and it can be worth going to a number of them, as they each have a slightly different vibe.

Hi again,
if you haven't already bought a stroller, perhaps this one has been waiting for you.

Re: In Zurich with a toddler

The GZ Bachwiesen near us has a children‘s fleamarket the last Sunday of each month. Things like strollers often turn up there for sale.

For things to do...get yourself a travel pass ( toddler goes free )

Parks - Josefswiese - as well as the many GZ ones. The Josefwiese one has a sandpit with a tap / water feature. Also a paddling pool and a café.
Park im Grüne - https://www.parkimgruene.ch/de.html

Dinosaur Museum - https://www.sauriermuseum.ch/
Jucker Farm - https://www.juckerfarm.ch/

Further afield
