It doesn't even make sense to compare yourself to random people, totally ignoring their background/history/health or family status. I think one thing you can and should do is to be fair to yourself and asses your abilities correctly, avoid stupid accidents, try to stick to a general plan,
gradually increase the level of physical activity and don't panic when you didn't do that in a day or two, or three, or a week.

Keep trying, do whatever you can - at the gym or somewhere else. Even taking the stairs instead of elevator or getting off the bus one stop earlier can count.
Anyway...I don't mind when people brag about their (superior) achievements, I guess it's good if they're happy and feel good about themselves.
