KFC and glazed donuts. Discuss.

Eating fried tarantula suddenly looks like a reasonable alternative

What's there to discuss...I would never put that in my mouth, I don't think.

Boston Cream is better.

What better way to begin a night of drinking alcopops than with stuffing your stomach first with cheap fried food?

Hmmm...not sure what idea is less palatable between those two options. Probably alcopops.

Everyone does..

But some of your posts feel like one of your feet is out of the door already, why?

I like your posts, the ones I got time to read
Yes, you are right. Same back.
Crazy to even think that a bunch of strangers could form a good society.

I met a woman on one of my power-walks today, while sitting in the sunshine (usually never sit, but was just enjoying that vitamin-D bit as long as I could).

I was sitting on a bench on my usual walk, looking over the mountain panorama that surrounds Zürich and it‘s lake. And a Swiss woman asked if she could share the same bench. „Ja, clar!, ist herrlich“, so moved down a bit, and then carried-on enjoying the sun / vitamin-D in my peace zone. Ignoring the fact that there was someone invading my space next to me.

Well, got into a conversation with this Swiss woman (usually a breed to be avoided), as we were both enjoying the sun and the view. I am a very private person, so I don‘t get into conversations lightly. And with other persons almost never (or maybe just occassionally).

But really enjoyed over an hours conversation with her. I ended-up being late for an appointment. We discussed life-time things, like her having been married over 30 years being almost as long as I‘d been divorced, one of her daughters having died from breast cancer 3 years ago, the wonderful view of the mountains, her joga, Swiss men, working until 67, her children working in the Sozialamt with hard incest cases, or in banks.

All in a relaxed, interesting, and funny conversation. Now that‘s the interesting thing.

It was wonderful, and I was almost knocked-off my bench when she told me she was 76 (Spanish husband being much younger might have helped that ).

We exchanged nos., and I hope that she will agree to join me for part of another walk. And I hope that I will have the courage one day, when 76, to wear Nikes and do the same.

And I had to draw a parallel to EF in my thoughts (hate that mode), because I‘ve received quite a bit of positive comments and PM‘s since „having one foot out of the door“.

EF was a hard case to break into, at anytime. It gave good advice, and provided fun. But seems to have developed a hardness that eliminates the fun.

I experienced something that was fun on my anyway great walk today.
And realised that this kind of experience has somehow gone missing From EF.

I agree. And I like your essay. I kinda want to meet your Nike Lady too

But I hear stories every day, they exist everywhere, not just online. In fact, less time most people I know spend online, more open they are to kindness and encountering interesting stories...it is just my impression and experience.

Thanks for sharing.

I don’t suppose The Local will be too happy about that, they require traffic for revenue.

It's ok. People only chase dupes for dupeness when they disagree with them or when there is a trouble. We often can't tell either. And only some of us are utter blondes.

Exactly, and this is why I have had „one foot out of the door“ since a bit.

Decided that I actually really like my life here in Switzerland. Although would give anything to escape a month or three, or maybe more in winter to somewhere I appreciate just as much (and cheaper would be icing on the cake ).

But where that place could be alludes me.

You’re right with your previous post, and I guess people deserve an explanation.

Found myself in the kind-of position of (very early) semi-retirement, due to a stroke a couple of years ago. The stress of working in IT within a big bank can be huge nowadays. That on-top of normal living here, being a ‘successful’ single Mom etc. etc. etc.

But since then, I have enjoyed life so much more again. And build-up on each and every day. And I don’t give a sh*t about grammar in my posts anymore . That was one of my talents in my career, and it feels wonderful to not care about it anymore, or to provide concise analysis to people that couldn’t be bothered (or capable) of doing the work themselves.

I believe that I gave as much as I got on EF. And it has been so very supportive in providing great info., following the lives (and sometimes deaths) of others over the years, as well as establishing good on-line friends. I know that I have never followed-up (except once where I was burnt), but whatever happens, EF was / is a good place to be (sometimes ).

So, I believe that I will join the ranks of those members that just look in daily, to watch what is going on .

Re: Old Histories or... (?)

In the light of this thread, I'd like to say that the EF gave back immensely. I obtained 2 jobs from the EF, made long-lasting friendships and unforgettable memories. For instance, I vividly remember how on one of the KFC outings, we arrived about 32+ deep to the KFC in Mulhouse, France (that was way back when there wasn't a KFC available in CH, ya noobs) and staff were literally run over by the sudden influx of English speaking patrons. Legend has it, that ***** (forum member's name withheld for privacy reasons ) consumed 5 Zinger burgers. Yeah, it was fun and at times, it wasn't fun. I'm not talking about the frequent spats we all have had with various members. But in the darkest moments, we always came together as one. I'm talking about whenever one of us passed away. It felt like loosing a family member and in a sense, we tend to, or at least used to talk to each other more than we talk to our immediate family or OH. I absolutely understand when somebody needs a break from EF. . .I've had my fair share of hiatus and flounced quite a few times but I always came back and was glad to see old familiar "faces". This being said, I entered the scene back in the days like a bull in a China shop and after getting banned numerous times, I won over the heart of 22 Yards (yeah right ) and I was made a mod, much to the chagrin of well, most people. Regardless, the EF provided me not only with entertainment, friendship and useful information but it functioned and still functions as a community and we should all be thankful for it. . .why don't we all just tune it down a notch, be thankful and group hug.

harsh and somewhat unpleasant, no? You don't know what happens in the sidelines- I certainly was 'burnt' and it is not pleasant. As ZH- I had to take two long breaks from EF- and with mixed emotions in view of the above.
