Old Histories or... (?)

There appear to be a couple / few new / old posters just starting to re-establish their old lives on this Forum during the quiet season.

Mods, they are soooooooo. cute. Can we please take them home . Pleeeeeeease. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeese.

I promise to nuture & care for them, and take them for daily outings.

Pleeeeeeeeease.

Or maybe it's just a figment of my imagination, in which case please delete this thread .

I agree.

Also the forum seems calmer and more relaxed after the last batch of people left.

The correct terms are 'dead' and 'boring'.

Indeed, I even mentioned it to a moderator yesterday.

I muted the Brexit thread earlier today so it's certainly gentler from my perspective

I don’t suppose The Local will be too happy about that, they require traffic for revenue.

The Forum seems to be in steady decline for about the last 8-10 years imo.

That neatly concides with the rise of Facebook and the like. I've mentioned before that the forum software is very old: I don't think that helps forum usage (ergonomically and aesthetically it's pretty dated), but this is an issue that is important to me and so perhaps I'm subconsciously putting more importance on this issue than is the reality.

There are (were) people on this forum who spent 80% of their posts on trying to wind people up.

That's just an opinion though.

Well yes, that is certainly true.

But it doesn't mean that there are no longer people that have made a life here. Actively shared their experiences, in a way that benefit others of all nationalities in the same situation looking for advice on day-to-day matters or community support.

And we could always come here, to EF.

And somehow, throughout the past years, a community developed that was prepared to pass this stuff on. It became a community with all of its different characters (those of us that couldn't spell, those of us that could for example - those of us that couldn't care less, depending on our mood).

There are many sites out there, so if you can send me the link to one that is (was) as good in this respect as EF, then please do!

My problem was replying to their posts. I started ignoring them. Problem went away. And then they did.
