| | Donating Unopened Packaged Food in Zürich
Hi,
Is there any place I can give away some un-opened, packaged food (e.g. noodles, spaghetti,...) for use by whomever actually uses them? We gathered in our kitchen cleaning and will not use them.
It's even better if the place is close to Zürich HB or the Unterland.
Thanks

Personally I'd just put it up in a local FB group.

Check the links given but I am not sure if you can use them as a private person for a one-off.
What won't help you now but after christmas there is "zweimal Weihnachten" where you can bring a parcel to the Post with food items. There are some rules re expiary date. https://www.2xweihnachten.ch/de/
Please let us know if you were sucessful. Might be useful for others as well.

Bumping this thread to put in a plug for 2x Weihnachten. Great way to donate food, cosmetics, and hygiene articles. You can set up a time online for the Post to pick up your package, super easy! Runs until 11 January. https://zweixweihnachten.post.ch/de | The following 8 users would like to thank ORDtoZRH for this useful post:

Interesting. I put in the request yesterday and the Post picked it up today in the letter box. Last year they picked it up from the front door on the scheduled day, no problem.

Just to let you know

An article in the local paper reminded me of this thread:
'Madame Frigo' is an initiative aimed at reducing food waste, where refrigerators are set up in a public place. Bring what you have, take what you need. https://www.madamefrigo.ch/en/
These refrigerators are located at many locations around Switzerland, and are maintained by local organizations.
The article that caught my eye focused on Stiftung Brunegg, which runs a refrigerator and non-perishable container inthe Kafi at Bahnhöfliplatz 1 in 8634 Hombrechtikon. https://stiftung-brunegg.ch/stiftung-brunegg/food-waste | The following 2 users would like to thank meloncollie for this useful post:
