Wedding Venues near Thun/Thunersee

Hi guys - first post so be nice

OK so I'm from Glasgow but have family over in Switzerland. My fiancée and I would like to get married there next summer.

We have decided that we would like to have the actual ceremony at the Oberhofen castle on the Thunersee lake. We are looking for a venue which we can hire to have the evening meal and reception.

The main thing is that I am going to be arranging my own catering, therefore it would just be the venue hire I'd like to look at.

The frontrunner has been Thun Castle. We have the option of hiring the grand hall. We can hire the space itself, and then pretty much organise everything else on our own which is exactly what we want. The one problem with this venue is that there's no accessible toilets and there are a couple of our family members who suffer mobility issues. They would need to negotiate 60 steps to go to and from the toilet. This is the only thing stopping us from booking the venue which is pretty annoying.

I wanted to see if anybody knows any other potential hire venues/spaces/lodges/chalets or anything that we may consider? The closer to the Oberhofen and Thun, the better. We will have a coach to transport people so as long as it's not too far away.

Party will be around 50-60 people.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Ideally we are looking for venue hire only, who will then allow us to be flexible with our own plans.

Cheers!

Re: Wedding Venues near Thun/Thunersee

I can't help much with a specific recommendation, but the City of Thun Administration maintains a list of such places:

http://www.thun.ch/kulturevents/miet...d-plaetze.html

or google:

"thun event räume"

This is extremely helpful, really appreciate it and gives me a good basis to work with! Thank you.

If anyone else has any similar suggested websites or even specific recommendations, fire them in here.

Not sure if it meets your financial criteria, but Grandhotel Giessbach is breathtaking!

We have been there for a coffee and it is just as beautiful as the best of the photos.

Maybe drop a mail to Speiz Castle. They do weddings, and they'll know where the receptions are usually held locally.
