Re: EF Community Corona Helpline

Unfortunately we are having to self isolate this week. OH went down with a head cold and mild flu symptoms on Saturday. I'm fine and he's on the mend working from home. Glad I shopped on Friday night so I'm organised for not going out.

Boredom is getting to me already though - the Basel weather is gorgeous at the moment, I overlook a park with a stream running through it and am only about 5 mins from the Rhein

Re: EF Community Corona Helpline

Available to help/assist in Oberrieden ZH and surrounding areas (Horgen, Thalwil, et.). Have a car and can carry bags up several flights. I am 100% willing to just deliver to your door/mailbox, and of course at no charge to you. (still working 100%, but will make time in the evenings and weekends)

Re: EF Community Corona Helpline

Same here in Kreis 6 (Zurich Oberstrasse).

No car, and don’t take the public transport at the moment, so it would need to be in the neighborhood, but I do go out daily for chores and am happy to pick-up light groceries, go to the Apotheke etc. for anyone stuck and /or in a high risk category.

Would also just leave anything at the door / in the postbox.

Alright, I've emailed Coop, Migros, Aldi, Lidl, Volg and Landi (plus an additional shopping center) with the request to implement a time-slot for the elderly. Let's see what comes back. I'll keep you updated.

Re: EF Community Corona Helpline

Living in Basel, (still for now) healthy, and happy to help someone who needs to stay in due to either quarantine or being in the high-risk group thus avoiding exposures.
Ready to run for grocery shops or pharmacy for you.

Cheers and stay safe and well,
D

Re: EF Community Corona Helpline

Trams and buses around Basel are pretty empty. The doors are all opened by the driver at each stop, so no need to press buttons (ok, maybe to get off the bus - use your elbow, maybe?). So if you want to help people, public transport is probably fairly safe.

Would have loved to support the initiative but have been a bit under the weather and thus self isolating. Maybe the best thing I can do right now is to stay in my hole and avoid passing the infection to others. Sorry......

don't apologise, that is exactly what you should be doing - and if everyone does it, it will help flatten the curve!
also if you need assistance, well you know where to ask

Re: EF Community Corona Helpline

I have absolutely no symptoms of anything (beyond crushing boredom) but because my OH was under the weather over the weekend I'm happy to stick it out in my little foxhole at the moment. There's a fair number of elderly people in our district and I wouldn't want to pass anything on. I slept on the the sofabed at the weekend as well, the spare room is at the other end of the apartment from our bedroom.

Re: EF Community Corona Helpline

I would love to help, but I’m watching over my elderly mother with cancer and I’ve put Raffles under house arrest because he’s at high risk.
I am worried about my cardiac son. I just want him to come home, yet I have no idea where it is safer to be at this point.

The kindness in this thread is beautiful and so deeply touching.

Re: EF Community Corona Helpline

Basel and surrounds - actually anything between Basel area and Baden is fine. Have a car. Can help with anything. Flexible schedule, though mornings until 1pm are slightly better as I work mainly with the US. Drop me a PM as I don’t regularly check the forum, email I will see though.

Alright party people, so far I've received personal answers from Aldi, Volg and the shopping center in Olten. They told me, that they were going to forward the email to either the board of directors or the proper entity dealing with such issues. From Coop, Landi and Migros I received an automated response with a ticket number. Lidl is still awol but let's see what I get tomorrow. Interestingly enough, Aldi managed to give me an automated answer, followed by a personal email. Good customer response time IMO.

Re: EF Community Corona Helpline

Well, if they do agree I hope they post the info on their websites prominently so people will see it as well as at the stores themselves.

Nothing I can do to help even though hubby's now working from home and I could have the car, because we're both in the vulnerable categories. So will be staying in and might even need to post here if we feel we shouldn't go out to the shops. Misery, near Fribourg city.

Re: EF Community Corona Helpline

I can‘t really help much - Last month I became “elderly”. Yeah, whatever.

But here’s something to think of - if people feel isolated, is there a way we can check on them. I don’t know....skype, face time, phone call even. I do worry about mental health during isolation - people can loose track of time and it makes you a little crazy.

Anyway, something to think on.
