Re: EF Community Corona Helpline

Not seeing many responses in Suisse Romande, but I'd be happy to help out.

Located in 1350 Orbe, have car (and small trailer), decent set of tools for handy stuff, fluent French.

Cheers,

Re: EF Community Corona Helpline

How is everyone doing? Are people getting the help they need? Does anyone need specific help?

I'm bumping this thread just in case there are users out there who need an errand run, but who hadn't yet seen the lists, links and offers made here.

Re: EF Community Corona Helpline

What eventful few months we all passed together, as a community. Thank you all for participating in the EF Community Corona Helpline. I did get contacted by several people and it was mostly shopping related stuff. I'm glad that I could help. I guess this is it, well, unless we get a second wave or another pandemic of some sort.

to:

Happy to help anyone who has been fully vaccinated including booster, took all precautions none-the-less, and still got it.

Re: EF Community Corona Helpline

Giving this another bump.

Is there anyone in the Zurich area who might be able to help our member Kittster get to her chemo and radiation appointments from time to time so she can rely less on public transport?

I think in this case, it goes without saying that one would need to be fully vaxxed and willing to wear a mask when transporting someone whose immune system is compromised.

I wish that I could be of help. Let me know if a Vaud/Geneva person needs assistance.

Re: EF Community Corona Helpline

Only just seen this, how incredibly kind. I live between the airport and Oerlikon.

The suggestions in the other thread were actual very helpful as it made me think about how to manage this. I can take the tram to Oerlikon train station, then travel first class (much higher mask compliance and fewer people) until Stadelhofen where there is a fairly regular shuttle bus that goes to Hirslanden. It makes my journey time a bit longer but I am confident that I will have the energy to do it that way until the mask mandate falls on public transport. By that time, I will have gone through almost half of my treatments.

After that, I will likely be starting to really feel the effects of the radiation, but I would like to get a better idea of how long things take before I bother anyone with requests for help. My mam is going to accompany on most of my first few appointments next week and will pick me up from my operation to have a permanent vein access put in (aka Port-A-Cath) on Thursday. Honestly, I am currently not the most logical thinker though, sleeping badly and always being on painkillers is not terribly helpful.
