Suspend Your GA

In case you have not seen the travel news, you suspend your GA for 30 days, while you are working from home. Just login to swisspass.ch and complete the online form.

Does this work for specific route abonnements? Nyon-Geneva for example ...

I don't think so, the only option was to suspend a GA for 30 days.. It was obviously a cobbled together thing because after I did it I got an email saying 'thanks your enquiry has been registered .

So it probably goes to a human to do it..

Still a good effort, the online option was not possible a week before.

The option was always there, but being able to do it online is new.

Don't think so, its only for GA. The option proposed to us was to cancel an annual pass on ZVV and get prorated refund. School closed so the child was not utilizing the pass.

Sorry, I can not find the option in Swisspass page. Where do I find the option for suspending it for 30 days?

Isn't that already the case before the pandemic?

GA were allowed to suspend their GA for a minimum of 5 days and maximum of 30 days per year. You go online, specify your last day of use, then first day of re-activation, pretty simple. You get a credit of the unused days which is then deducted from your next bill.

Edit: I see that the ability to do it online is the new thing, great

Re: Suspend Your GA

I am seriously fed up with SBB.

They just wrote to me that in order to suspend my GA for 30 days, I have to obtain a proof of residence from the canton. Why would I have to do that?? I provided this when I first signed up for the GA. This office I am guessing isn't even open. If it was open, as an at risk person, I wouldn't go get the damn thing. Does anyone have a solution? Has anybody else been asked this? Thanks a lot.

They wanted me to do this back when I tried to upgrade to first class because I was "breaking a contract". Apparently SBB thinks giving them more money each month is breaking contract....I swear, wish I didn't have to give them a dime.

Yes, you have always been able to do this.

I suspended mine before the Pandemic, now it is active again. 30 days is not long enough, hopefully they might increase this under the current circumstances.

I doubt very much there are many in this situation...

Re: Suspend Your GA

I have been "parking" my 1st class abo each time I go on vacation, for years.

I got their email this week saying that due to covid, AG customers can park their AG for up 30 days at no cost, so I filled out the form and guess what? If you have already used up the regular allowance, you cannot use the Covid deal.

I think this is typical SBB mis-marketing as there was no mention of the regular 30 days when they sent the covid message.

I promptly fired off a caustic reply threatening to bring my legal insurance into play and blah blah blah. I probably won't but they need a kick in the pants.

They really do...something changed in the last years, they weren't always like this. They also refused to take additional measures to clean their trains at the beginning of the crisis...Italy made them clean the trains when they entered the country. It's ridiculous...I know they are getting a new CEO and I sincerely hope things improve.

To follow-up, after several tense emails, I was able to get my GA suspended by providing a doctor's note about my high-risk status. Still rather crappy of SBB...but at least they caved in the end.

The reason why they asked for my proof of residence or marriage certificate was because I am the second family member on my husband and I's partner GA. They wanted proof that we still reside together and are married. Another ridiculous request in such a situation, they didn't ask him and granted the suspension without issue. SBB want to keep track on our marriage more than the Swiss authorities do.
