Yes its a great thing. The killing fields ( slaughter houses ) in the US are having to close.
Great thing for whom? These places, as disgusting as they can be, employ tens of thousands of people. The foods they process are distributed across the country, again employing tens of thousands.

I know people who are doubly affected by the policies at these processing plants. First, when they get sick, the choice is to go to work sick or not get paid. So of course many go unless they're too sick to get out of bed. Second, when people were getting sick in large numbers and the plants knew it, they didn't implement any distancing measures or change numbers of people per shift, and they didn't up the sanitizing processes. That led to even more people getting sick.

Now plants closing for an indefinite amount of time and laying off workers.

Think about this for a moment. In my home state, a person making $12 an hour (which is very common for these places) will only be eligible for about $265 per week in unemployment benefits, which equates to $1,060 a month. On average, a 2-bedroom apartment in the area costs $1,200-1,500. Benefits are only paid for 6 months.

You can see how this is not a good thing for everyone.

Yes thats the negative side. So they are forced to look for work in another industry. But these meat factories should all close!

Yes. You don't bite the hand of the person who feeds you. Corona virus -mother natures way of telling us to get our act together or face the consequences!

Re: Coron-19 a good thing

Now the whole thing is degenerating into an exercise in social control and manipulation

In CH they even say now the restrictions will last 2 years or more!! All this because of THEIR irrational paranoid fears
