| | Re: My chances of entering Switzerland next week? | Quote: | | | | | Colleague of mine flew in this week, but then she has a residency permit. So no idea how it works if you do not have one, anyway it can change daily.
Ask the airline? They have to take you back worst case | | | | | It's true, the airline should know, but in today's scenario with so many unique cases, like yours, don't be surprised if you get inaccurate information. I worked check in for United airlines at Zurich airport, it was our responsibility to check passengers travel documents, but it's also the passenger's responsibility to be prepared. You'd be surprised (or maybe you wouldn't?!) how many mistakes are made DAILY on both parts. If you fly when you can't enter and the airline allowed you to, I believe it'd come at no cost to send you back, which of course would be a hassle. I had a German passenger transiting in Zurich onto the US. Germany made a mistake in flying her to Zurich because she didn't have her green card so couldn't continue on & enter the US & was stuck overnight in Zurich even though home was not far away. They shouldn't have let her leave Germany, a mistake that happens DAILY!! So really try to get correct information from more than one source. Since you have no job to come back to, meaning no financial reason, I'd be surprised if you can enter, however your previous permit might influence things. Unfortunately knowing the Swiss (ouch 😂 , I'd also be surprised if they see coming to be with your girlfriend reason enough. Just my opinion, fingers crossed.

| | Re: My chances of entering Switzerland next week? | Quote: | | | | | as far as i understand the situation , you will need a permit (typ does not matter, so B, C,L, or G) or a swiss id , to be able to cross the border into switzerland until further notice.Or a relative (family member) has a case of emergency. | | | | | And holders of a Ci permit, or Carte de legitimation. Indeed, there’s a few other permit letters I can’t remember.

I highly recommend the app called ALERTSWISS.
You select your canton(s) of interest, your choice of language (including) English and it will send you push notifications as soon as new measures are announced by the Federal government or the canton(s) authorities of interest.

Okay thanks for all the links and info guys.
By the sounds of it, I will be having to do some waiting before being let into the country so I will most likely have to reschedule my ticket until further notice.
I will give the embassy a call on Monday just to see if there are any options but sounds very unlikely.
Thanks all

I have a B permit and (usually) commute here from UK every weekend.
To save me the trip, the Lovely Missus was coming out for this weekend, but she has no permit.
We were told there was a high chance she would be refused entry, even though we are married. Another friend was in the same boat. He also had to cancel his missus's flight.
But we cancelled because no one should be travelling unless vitally necessary. Visiting your spouse/partner does not count as that in times like these.
I have a flight back to UK next week and will stay there until this is over.
Stay safe, all.
Ian

Another commuter here, also cancelled my flights. Partly because I´d need to go into quarantine when arriving and then not being able to come back from work but mainly to minimize the risk of getting infected or infecting others.
