Living in Switzerland, but working for American nonprofit

Hi,
I'm considering a job opportunity with an American nonprofit and they have just asked if I would prefer to be paid to an American bank account or a Swiss bank account. Could I be paid to a Swiss bank account, although the nonprofit is in the US? Or, if I were to be paid to an American bank account, am I able to transfer my salary to my Swiss account to pay rent, etc.? I have a C residency permit for Switzerland.
Thanks in advance

You need to talk to your bank about this before accepting the job since many won't allow any association with American companies. Even though you're American they may not be happy about this.

If you can do it I'd get it paid straight into your Swiss account.

Be careful here. Will your salary be fixed in USD or in CHF? Currencies change value all the time.

If you will be living here you need to be paid in local currency, not in dollars (nor in CHF converted from dollars every month). The dollar has halved in value against the Swissie since the mid-80s, if historical trends continue you could see you monthly income decline every month.

You will be able to find basic banking services (the equivalent of a chequing and savings accounts, not much else).

Donít forget you will be subject to both Swiss and US taxes. Do some searches here, there is lots of info.
