How is staying in the middle of the woods, 4km from home (that I have to pass in any case on my way to the store to buy food), with nearest neighbor 1km, riskier (or even AS risky) as staying in a building with 50 people, with another several hundred people within a few hundred meter radius?

The mind boggles.

Tom
Well, teletransportation is still not working. To get to the middle of the woods with nearest neighbor 1 km you have to take the train + bus or drive across the country (stop for gas or bündner nusstorte or to pee).

Being in the same building with other 50 people is at least being with the same 50 people. While traveling across the country you may encounter less people but it's different people and that's what matters for contagion.

Re: Easter - where are you going?

Agreed- although someone is talking about going to Cinque Terre- not quite the same.

And some sites in CH will be CLOSED and monitored. If you go to Creux-du-Van - and there is a crowd as per last week-end, distancing is not an option- a high limestone wall on one side, and oblivion on the other (yes, a young dad died last year in front of his wife and young children - taking a selfie )

I’ll assume this is a serious question.

They’re open on Saturday but not Friday or Monday. Well, the station shops and gas stations etc that normally open on Sundays will be open but the regular food stores will only be open on Saturday.

Ah hilarious, Patxi spitting at me for supposedly being "smug" that Switzerland - a country where notably s/he lives as well - has gotten it all under control fairly quickly without locking people up entirely...

... now plans a weekend in Cinque Terre.

Doesn't get much better than this.
Do people really think Patxi is serious.... I mean the planning sneaking into Italy via a lake on a SUP board might just have given it away if your weren't sure

I'm sure you read my previous post that had my full undiluted thoughts within it, but I will anyway paraphrase it because Ace dutifully deleted it.

The advice against people not traveling regionally is to protect the other people in those regions, it's not about protecting you. It's preventing the spread of the virus that can be caused by you traveling somewhere, for example to more remote areas with smaller communities where the virus may not yet have reached. Can/do you understand that ?

Depends:

Good Friday: Shops open in TI and VS only.
Saturday: Shops open everywhere.
Easter Monday: Shops open in VS, partially in AG, SO, may be a few in LU, OW, NW, ZG, FR, NE.

(Does not include shops at trains stations, gas stations, and autobahn stops which have their own rules and opening times).

The few shops which might be open can be over crowded. Better avoid them or expect long delays until you are allowed to enter. If overcrowded and the situation will not allow adequate social distancing the police might close them down.

We’ll be home. Hanging on the terrace, possibly grilling and planting. I have a mini break from my daily German class, so I rather expect a crapload of homework.

Definitely none open in NE on Easter Monday other than the gas stations etc.

We are staying home. Travelling with our stomachs only and not physically. Plan to cook a variety of cuisines from places around the world.

If only we could fix the gas grill now, weather is perfect for it. (Not allowed to use charcoal as per rent agreement).

The official recommendation is:
Quote:
Stay at home
Stay at home. Only leave the home if absolutely necessary. That means:
  • If you have to purchase groceries.
  • If you have to go to the doctor’s or the pharmacy.
  • If you have to help someone.
  • If you are unable to work from home and you have to go to work.

If you are over the age of 65 or have an underlying medical condition, we strongly recommend that you stay at home under any circumstances unless you have to go to the doctor.
It is a call to reason and common sense. You are still allowed to go out. But you shouldn't. You can still ride your motorbike. But you shouldn't. You are still allowed to go to your holiday home. But you shouldn't.

Strictly forbidden is the following:
Quote:
Gatherings of more than 5 people are prohibited
Gatherings in public spaces of more than five people are prohibited. Public spaces include squares, promenades and parks. If five or fewer people meet, they must maintain a distance of two metres from one another. Anyone not complying with this rule will be fined.

If you contaminate a bear or a fox, you'll have to eat it.
Ah, I forgot, that's the plan, right?

Yeah, these people in big apartment houses should not be of the paranoid type for sure. Here each flat has it's own entrance. More like motel-style. Not only in corona times a nicer solution.

If someone has a holiday house, takes all the food etc. along and drives straight there, they won't meet a soul. On the other hand if they get sick while there, they end up in the "wrong" hospital. Can you perceive hostility while on a respirator?

As it is, it looks like I have to venture out either Thur or Tue, probably early morning. When are the stores emptiest? Early early? I they would also have what I need, I risk not getting it 5min before closing time.

Didn't think we needed Cliff Notes for very easy advice.

Don't leave the house unless it is for: 1) Shopping for groceries, pharmacy, post office 2) Go to the doctor, only go if you really need to 3) Go to work if you cannot work from home

There's a lot of things you can do outside of that, that's up for you to decide. I've allowed myself safe exercise (where it would be difficult to get injured) in an area away from people.
