As it is, it looks like I have to venture out either Thur or Tue, probably early morning. When are the stores emptiest? Early early? I they would also have what I need, I risk not getting it 5min before closing time.
I've been getting there just as they open, stores have been fairly empty. I think during lunch and 3:30 PM - 6:00 PM would be the busiest times as these are the times when people who are still working outside the home leave work to go shopping.

Early mornings have been busiest in my experience, everyone seems to think it will be quiet but the reverse is true here.
Early afternoon just after lunch around 1.30 is quietest.

I got to our local coop just as they opened the doors and, thought it was going to be ok but then suddenly a lot of people all arrived. It wasn't so much the number of people in the store but the problem was everyone started their shopping at the front of the store where the fruit and veg is and there was quite a line to weigh them. They then all moved to the refrigerated aisles next to it. The rest of the store was pretty empty!

I always do that. Lausanne is a city that is too easy for one to get lost.

Makes sense...I should have been more clear, I recommended to get there soon after they open. We arrived around 8:15 AM, which meant that most of those super early birds had already dispersed.

I think you can leave your house with the intent to spend a night in a tent. If you can find somewhere legal to pitch it.

If you intend to go to Tessin by car the police will stop you at the start of the Gotthard and question your motives.

Re: Easter - where are you going?

I'm sure that Paxti is just yanking the collective chain, but for anyone even considering coming to France, don't even think about it. There are so many police controlling every major thoroughfare, it is not funny.

They are terribly concerned about the French who live up north (highly infected region) coming down to their second homes in the south (not so much) and they are dead serious. Macron said, and I'm paraphrasing, "it might technically be a vacation, but, this year, you are not en vacances. Stay home."

Do people really think Patxi is serious.... I mean the planning sneaking into Italy via a lake on a SUP board might just have given it away if your weren't sure
Of course not, but might as well play along.

If you contaminate a bear or a fox, you'll have to eat it.
Ah, I forgot, that's the plan, right?

Yeah, these people in big apartment houses should not be of the paranoid type for sure. Here each flat has it's own entrance. More like motel-style. Not only in corona times a nicer solution.

If someone has a holiday house, takes all the food etc. along and drives straight there, they won't meet a soul. On the other hand if they get sick while there, they end up in the "wrong" hospital. Can you perceive hostility while on a respirator?
We have to pass our holiday house on the way to the store, and it's at the end of a 200m private road, and if we get sick we will be even closer to the hospital, win-win!

Tom

And yet over and over again, people are being asked not to travel. Not to travel to their holiday homes in other parts of Switzerland from where they live. Most especially not to go to the Ticino.

And still, for reasons of... well, who knows why... people still seem to think the restrictions don't apply to them. Anyone can become infected and anyone can transfer that infection to anyone they meet, and though the transferring person may have a robust immune system and not suffer much if they do become ill, any of the people they meet could be hit hard. That minimum responsibility should count more than just doing "whatever you want".

This. Over and over and over again.

Some (adult) people still "pubertieren" - what's that in English?

COOP Signy was very quiet today at 14.30 .. No queue, no numbering system to go in.. Instead of the usual security guy at the door it was just a regular COOPer twiddling thumbs.. Virtually no empty shelves.

To be honest, I think the panic is over, go whenever ..

That's you, yep.

Oh but no matter how quickly you will reach the hospital, the beds will be taken up by your favourite Swiss: The Swiss Germans.
Can't wait for your posts then.

At our little Migros last week, an employee was in the entrance zone, sorting sausages in a cooler over and over and over again. LOL. It was a first, so when I left I asked him if he's there to check on us. He claimed the sausages just didn't look quiet right.
