Easter - where are you going?

Weather looks good, people have been cooped up, traditionally a time to migrate, or at the very least day trip.

I spoke to the neighbours on one side (Swiss). They are off to their apt. on Lake Luzern. My boss (Swiss) is having an extended family holiday for a week in the mountains somewhere (he's already gone). Other neighbours (Swiss) are putting the roof box on the car.
We've seen reports on EF of tourist sites being frequented already. Two people hiking up a mountain tumbled to their deaths in GL on Sunday.

Will we be seeing queues at the Gotthard tunnel as per usual?

Where are you going? Are you going to flaunt the advice? Who will be the first to admit their plans and be pecked to death and heavily condescended on EF?

Re: Easter - where are you going?

Staying right here, and keeping away from the nearby tourist spots. BTW don't bother coming to Creux-du-Van - after 100s of cars from almost every C/Kanton, and 100s more arriving by train last week-end- the site will be closed over Easter.

And thinking how glad that I got a legit excuse to get away from my country's barbarian Easter traditions.

Re: Easter - where are you going?

If omtatsat's weather forecast is correct I'll go to the garden. If not I'll dive downstairs to the office and tinker with some websites that need tlc. As all the fancy, untouched sports equipment is down there too, I might be tempted. If so I guess I will know, times are really bad.

If the Ticinese are smart, they let everybody drive through Gotthard, then turn them right back. And maybe - as an exception - a name and shame website would be an idea.

Re: Easter - where are you going?

We are going to migrate from garden to orangery to living room to dining room to kitchen. The order may vary. Depends if we find all the eggs we hide for the kids.

Folk flouting the social distancing thing are selfish pillocks.

Thanks to corona and closed borders I won't be seeing the family of my wife. Can't really complain.

Re: Easter - where are you going?

We're going to holiday on the downstairs floor of our house. Different bedroom, different bathroom, different view to wake up to. We're also going to use a different part of the garden than usual to enjoy the weather.

Plus we've got a stack of "treat" activities planned that we usually don't have time to do - so polishing the motorbikes, making fresh pasta and baking bread, using the smoker instead of the gas BBQ, re-learning card games, actually making cocktails rather than "just settling" for the usual glass(es) of vino or G&T, reading books until we fall asleep, having picnics on the grass. Will be a lovely holiday!

Oh... kay...

I imagine all the other folk who think Covid-19 isn't really a threat to them because "reasons" will hope for the same thing.

Wow.

Oh crap. You think that it might still be busy then? Might just stick to Genova in that case.

Yeah, that's the sticky part of our idea. We've got a plan though. I'll let you know if it works out.

BBQ in the grass between apartment buildings. Ride the bike in the hills around home. Drive around Jurapark area with the roof down.

Re: Easter - where are you going?

Do you guys think it is ok to go for a wild camping for one or 2 night in the Woods? i mean we should not go out and all.. but the weather is so nice and i would choose a place where there are no people so it should not change anything to staying at home.

Other options are placing the tent in my balcony..
