Re: Strong Cleaning Formula for Balcony Floor

A Karcher will sort out that. When we moved to our current place, the terraces were much worse than that. One was so black with grime that I thought at first it had a bitumen coating and not plain concrete.

And this is how it looks like, for those who'd asked:
That looks to be either concrete or dried elephant skin.

What if I don't have a water outlet in the balcony?

yup... thats what I am wondering too... would love a solution for that. Cannot run the water line from kitchen or bathroom, not pratical/safe.

If your bathroom or kitchen tap has a screw in filter at the end you can remove this and buy an adaptor that then fits to the standard garden hose attachments
10m spiral hose should reach the balcony.

Re: Strong Cleaning Formula for Balcony Floor

KiwiSteve,
Overview:

My kitchen is kinda close, and, I have the possibility to unscrew the faucet and screw the adapter in one end and "gardena" in the other to use with a normal whose. So I am sure I could use the same to the power wash.

The problem is: I don't like to have to screw/unscrew/re-screw every time I want to use it, and, every time I do use this setup, it does leak a bit of water as the seal is not super good and I dont want to do anything about it as its temporary. When I put back the kitchen piece, all is normal again.

I even had a plumber come once and try to mount a "y" adapter under the sink so I had always a direct connection to the sink and washing machine.. and the other end of the "y" with a on/off switch so I could come in and plug my gardena stuff. But... this did not work well (plumber did a bad job) and was leaking too and not well fitted. I saw one the same day, and had him undo the sh%%ˆ&y job he did and decided to give up on that setup.

....but I would REALLY like to have a working simple solution... (I was even thinking if there's a "top faucet" that I can use normally and unplug when not needed to plug the gardena or other setup... but I have not seen anything...)

Any other ideas/pointers? First world problems, I know.. but would be nice to make it work... Its stupid that the balconies on floors do not have the direct connection, only the ground floor units!

Thanks again,
inZug

Re: Strong Cleaning Formula for Balcony Floor

We left the adaptor in over the summer -it was for a dog-washing hose
If you put a bit of teflon tape around the screw threads they should not leak -the problem is normally the gardena type fittings - some of the really cheap ones are lousy.

Re: Strong Cleaning Formula for Balcony Floor

This is my kitchen sink setup. this is what I mean.. I cannot keep it off the whole time... as its my kitchen sink and I need to use. so I need to unscrew/rescrew everytime... and this is what I am trying to avoid.

I have seen this gardena solution, but, would not work for my kitchen.. only the bathroom and then I would need a really long whose running thru the apartment every time, which is also not super practical.

Re: Strong Cleaning Formula for Balcony Floor

...Upon spending far more time than I should, I found something that looks like it will work for me without having to connect to my kitchen sink. I can user a big bucket of water as a source:

350l per hour flow rate.

I would estimate it would take you an hour to clean the patio.

10l per bucket. That's 35 buckets plus the time to fill them. I think you'll need a bigger bucket!

No, just get a larger container. :-)

Pressure's good at 120 bar and should be absolutely fine for actual cleaning.

Re: Strong Cleaning Formula for Balcony Floor

Try spreading biological washing powder on it. Leave overnight if no rain forecast, and then just brush off with water and a yard brush. It worked for me on concrete, but I don’t know what material you have.

Re: Strong Cleaning Formula for Balcony Floor

Hi! I recently got a Karcher machine and I can confirm the result on the outdoor floor it's amazing even if it's a small model.

I had no proper connections in my flat so I bought the adapters (https://www.kaercher.com/int/home-ga...-26450100.html) and I attached to the indoor tap.

In case of leaks with pipes and taps, this usually solves it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thread_seal_tape

It may not be nice to have a pipe running through the apartment but actually the only places where one can have a leak are at the terminals, so the real risk of damaging stuff is quite low. Some connectors have a one-way safety valve which prevents leaks when you disconnect and move the hose (the one with more black plastic in https://www.kaercher.com/int/home-ga...-26451560.html).

In the Karcher manual it shows some bigger models which can be fed with water from an open tank, but I don't know if it applies to all models. It is possible that smaller machines have less powerful pumps and need the help of the house water pressure to reach the nominal level.

Re: Strong Cleaning Formula for Balcony Floor

Consider starting with "CIF Professional Oxy Action" Floor cleaner. They sell it in Hornbach. I found it to perform better than more expensive dedicated concrete cleaner

Lots of places have Karcher models on offer at the moment.

Example

Lidl has one on Monday.
