Well, I'm -1 now. A colleague of my wife, a pianist in Spain, wrote today to say that his father had just passed away with COVID-19.

Two friends in CH, both recovered, and my sister knew someone in the US who died.

I have/had several work colleagues from the US with AIDS. One has been HIV+ for nearly 40 years and is still going.

Re: Personal experience contracting corona?

One of my friends who is also a former colleague, works as a NHS health centre receptionist and deals with a lot of walk-in patients. She's a single mum with an 11yr old daughter and whilst she's very professional in public, she'd be the first to admit she can be a bit of a drama queen amongst friends.

Anyway, she was off work two weeks ago with symptoms and self-isolated at home but managed to get a test on day 5. Her daughter refused to go near her, organised a rota for use of the kitchen and bathroom, and followed her round for a week with a bottle of dettol cleaning everything she touched. She got a negative result but is still too ill to work for the moment. However, her pampered princess of a daughter who has never lifted a finger previously, has now proved she can organise, run the house, do all the housework, wash her own clothes and cook a decent meal, and mum is going to take full advantage of her daughter's 'new found' skills for as long as she can

Re: Personal experience contracting corona?

My husband and I have tested positive for the corona antibody test, which gives each of us 99.8% chance of having had corona before. We both had a cold-like illness in April, and our teenage kids have had it too. We didn’t expect this to be corona and were surprised by the test results.

Jep like me for instance. Had mild cold-like symptoms for two days in early March, guess that was it or maybe it wasn’t, who knows.

My cousin who lives in NYC reported the same - very mild symptoms for a few days in February or March, had antibodies when tested a few months later.

Beyond that I know no one who had it. Some suspect it, but none of them know.

Re: Personal experience contracting corona?

I thought I would revive this thread as I’ve had mild cold-like symptoms over the weekend. I decided to get tested yesterday, and they called my with my results at the beginning of the afternoon: COVID positive.

About 20 minutes later someone from the cantonal doctor office called me on the phone. Hubby, the kids and I are on quarantine for the next 10 days.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Would it be rude of me to ask what your mild symptoms are? It's getting to be that time of year where people are also beginning to catch normal colds, and I guess I'm curious if there is any way of knowing what the difference is in terms of symptoms.

I really hope that your (and your family's) symptoms will remain mild. I'm not sure what part of CH you're in, but if you're not very far from the Greifensee/Uster area and there is anything that you need dropped off to you while you and your family is in quarantine, please don't hesitate to send me a PM.

All the best to you and yours!

Thanks for your very kind offer, but I’m unfortunately very far from you, close to Lausanne

My symptoms are totally similar to all the mild colds I’ve had over the years, which is why I was reluctant to get tested and very surprised to hear the result.

Runny nose, a lot of sneezing, feeling a bit under the weather and some hot flushes at night. Nothing dramatic, I’ve had far worse normal colds in my life! Today my cold symptoms are much better but I’ve got an upset tummy. Strictly no cough, but my sense of smell seems to be gone (taste is ok though).

Good luck Melusine! I hope you and your family will not have more than the mild symptoms!

My son has tested positive a month ago, with mild symptoms. Even though my husband and I had tested positive for antibodies earlier, all family was in quarantine. I hope our family is done with Corona.

I hope it stays that way Mélusine and the family don’t get it, or if they do only a mild dose too. Take care of yourself.

How does that affect your students? I think Vaud has pretty much given up on track and trace from what I’ve heard.

Well, I’ve been careful and tried to be a thorough as I could with my mask and hands washing. I sincerely hope I haven’t contaminated a student or a colleague! But I’ve learned today that they have several students a staff sick, and I’m pretty sure I caught it at work (haven’t gone anywhere else actually), so I don’t know if they’ll have to go for stricter measures.

Except that, Vaud has basically given up on tracking, yes. Only the people living with me are quarantined. They didn’t care about anything else.

Re: Personal experience contracting corona?

My sister tested positive this week. She has had a fever, headaches, trouble breathing (she is asthmatic as well), cough. Yesterday she lost her sense of smell. She has zero Energy. I.e. to tired to even sit up. I just hope she does not have to go to hospital. My brother-in-law strangely tested negative yesterday. My sister has no idea where she got it from, public transport or a course she attended?
