Cleaning Lady

Our cleaning lady wants to resume her visits this week. Would this be ok in terms of adhering to the latest guidelines issued by the government? Thanks.

I think you need to your good judgment here. Do you have children? Does your cleaning lady have children? Is anyone in your household compromised and is she or anyone in her household compromised? It's a risk as she maybe entering other households/businesses and you need to weigh up those risks. Just my thoughts...

Re: Cleaning Lady

Mine returned last week and I asked her to use hand sanitizer before touching anything when she arrived as well as wearing gloves while she cleaned. I locked myself away in a room that she doesn't clean for the duration and opened all the windows after she left and disinfected all the door knobs and handles. No idea if it makes any difference but not sure what else to do.

She received her full salary for the time she was away, so she didn't have to come back for financial reasons but she really missed my cats and I was getting a bit tired doing all the cleaning on my days off so...

Considering the low amount of new infections and the fact that schools will be starting next week as well, I'd certainly give her the go ahead.

Yes. Apply common sense in personal interaction - that's all.

I hear you Kittser! Cleaning our flat/apartment is/was getting old. That said, we have no children and basically paid our cleaning lady for the past 7-8 weeks, but we will also be bringing her back this week. Will take precautions as well

Re: Cleaning Lady

I see no problem. My cleaning lady has been coming even during the height of the pandemic. She was taking absolute care of her own health by not going anywhere and using masks and disinfectant, and once in my place she used gloves. She is the kind of person to use the key to tap on the key-code of the building, and then she would disinfect the key! Moral of what I'm trying to say: it depends on how much you trust the person to follow the proper care procedures, I guess.

This. I like your cleaning lady!

I'm the type who would clean the house because the cleaning lady is coming so there's no need for us to hire a cleaning lady.

Kittster is following correct procedure, Omtatstat.

The cleaning company we use sent around a set of instructions to safeguard the cleaner's health. They asked that the family members not be present when the cleaner comes over, or if that were not possible to stay in a room/on the balcony/in the garden where the cleaner would not need to enter, and to keep appropriate distance when you need to interact. And obviously masks all around.

Limiting contact is for the health of BOTH parties.

I would not even have seen his reply had you not quoted his nonsense. He has been on my ignore list for years now because he adds neither humanity not value to this forum. Therefore, he may want to debate it but it won't be with me, I prefer not to waste my time on misanthropic sociopaths. And that IS aggressive because I intend it to be, I'm sick and tired of this person being nasty, divisive and self-centred.

Thank you, meloncollie. I thought so.
I wonder if the new rules stipulate that the employer must provide gloves and masks too, it's worth digging for this stuff. Also, what are the employer's obligations in regards to social contributions during quarantine, I gathered lots of people come from countries where domestic workers are no-man-land's territory and they must know that CH doesn't function like that.

When we needed cleaning staff we hired a company exactly because I had no time to deal with admin stuff and I'm a very correct person.

I don't know if there are official rules, as in BAG level policies. But it would just make sense to me for an employer to provide whatever they require a cleaner to use. One less thing for the folks whose help we depend on to worry about.

Again an assumption, but if one is paying a salary that should include social contributions, quarantine or not. But hopefully others who better understand the various measures and programs in place will chime in.

Like you, I opted for a cleaning company - simply because I am uncertain that I fully understand all the ins and outs of being an employer. To me the extra cost is worth the peace of mind knowing that things are being done correctly.
