Uk Resident wants to visit Swiss Resident Husband

Hi All and apologies if this has already been answered but did search first.

I am British living in the UK and would like to visit my Swiss Resident husband who I haven't seen since the beginning of March. Normally we would see each other every couple of weeks but with the whole lockdown thing this has not been possible. With Switzerland now opening up does anyone know wether or not I can visit and wether or not there are any restrictions/papers that I would need.

Thanks for any advice.

There is still no easing in the border control , when you want to enter switzerland.

You still need

1. Passengers are not allowed to enter Switzerland.
- This does not apply to nationals or residents of Switzerland or Liechtenstein.
- This does not apply to passenger with a cross-border commuter permit who are entering Switzerland for work, with a C-visa issued by Switzerland for the purpose of "business meetings" as specialists in the field of health or "official visit" of great importance, with a D-visa issued by Switzerland or who have an assurance of a residence permit.
-This does not apply to passengers traveling directly through Switzerland to another country that they are permitted to enter.
- This does not apply to passengers who are entitled to freedom of movement and have a professional reason for entering Switzerland and have a confirmation of registration.
- This does not apply to passengers who are of great importance as specialists in the health sector.
- This does not apply to passengers travelling by land to their country of origin or residency within the European Union or Schengen area. They must have a proof of onward journey.
2. Passengers can only land at Basel (BSL), Geneva (GVA) or Zurich (ZRH).

There is an easing from May 11 th, which means reunification of family members of people with a permit or swiss pass, no word about visiting family

https://www.sem.admin.ch/sem/de/home....%20Mai%202020

It is possible to visit husbands, married person (like same sex) or children.

Bei Situationen äusserster Notwendigkeit ist es möglich, trotz des Einreisestopps in die Schweiz einzureisen. Insbesondere folgende Umstände gelten als wichtige Gründe:

Besuch wegen eines Todesfalls oder einer im Sterben liegenden Person eines in der Schweiz lebenden engen Familienmitglieds, insbesondere Ehegatten, Lebenspartner, Eltern, Geschwister, Kind, Enkelkind oder Schwäger/in. Die Einreise ist zusammen mit der Kernfamilie der/des Besuchenden möglich, also Ehegatten, eingetragene Lebenspartner und minderjährige Kinder;
Fortsetzung einer in der Schweiz oder im Ausland begonnenen notwendigen medizinischen Behandlung;
Ehepartner/in und minderjährige Kinder ausländischer Staatsangehörigkeit eines/r Schweizer Staatsangehörigen, die wegen der aktuellen Situation von ihrem bisherigen Wohnsitz im Ausland zusammen mit dem Schweizer Staatsangehörigen in die Schweiz zurückkehren möchten, beispielsweise zur Evakuation;
Dringende offizielle Besuche im Rahmen internationaler Verpflichtungen der Schweiz;
Einreise von Besatzungsmitgliedern öffentlicher Transportmittel wie Eisenbahnen, Busse, Trams, Linien- und Charterflüge sowie Besatzungsmitglieder von Fracht-, Arbeits- und Ambulanzflügen, Flügen zu Unterhaltszwecken und Privatflügen (Business- und General Aviation) zur Beförderung von einreiseberechtigten Personen sowie Chauffeure von privaten Schulbussen;
Betreuung von erkrankten, betagten oder minderjährigen Familienangehörigen, unabhängig vom Verwandtschaftsgrad;
Wahrnehmung des zivilrechtlich geregelten Besuchsrechts von Kindern und deren Begleitperson, dies beinhaltet auch die Einreise des Kindes in die Schweiz;
Besuch der Kernfamilie, also Ehegatten, eingetragene Lebenspartner und minderjährige Kinder;

You will need your documentation and keep in mind that the uk is planning a mandatory quarantine (14 Days) from the end of may , when you arrive back in the uk from a different country.

I'm not sure that is what it does mean, as Swiss passport holders and permit holders have always been able to enter the country during this time.

Family reunification is allowed as from tomorrow (11th may), but I don't know if this is for those who are in the process of applying for family reunification permits, or it allows non resident family to visit.

However, there is nothing to stop your husband visiting the UK currently, if he can get a flight. No restrictions on entering the UK (currently) and no restrictions returning to Switzerland if you have a permit...... although UK social distancing rules technically don't allow contact.

The reunification is for people with a swiss pass or permit and the partner has no swiss permit or pass .
They have established a relationship ,but did not legalized it.

Yes I read that family reunification was allowed from the 11th May but came to the conclusion that that applied to those wishing to locate permanently in Switzerland :-(

You could have booked a flight already some weeks ago since it already is allowed for some weeks to visit your official partner and/or underaged children in Switzerland.

The whole easing on the 11th is not relevant since it already is allowed and nothing will change on that, how the UK will act on your return depends on the rulings at that time.

You are allowed into Switzerland already for the purposes of visiting family.

But going back again may be more difficult.

So to summarise: ok for “core family”, ie spouse, life partner and children presumably below 18.

I’m guessing adult offspring who are non-resident can’t yet travel to visit parents resident in Switzerland.

It would be interesting to see how this works in practice. I would like to visit my folks in London, and I would accept to quarantine at theirs for a few days but two weeks would be a stretch assuming I cannot even leave to catch a flight home.
