Re: Gyms reopening 11th May - would you go?

I can't go to the gym for the next two weeks due to the need to recover from a medical procedure. Those of you who are brave enough, please let me know how it went.

I had it my head that partner dancing would have to be the perfect spreader, with people changing partners, holding hands and breathing straight at each other.

How did it go? You wrote about cataracts somewhere, did you go for it?

Re: Gyms reopening 11th May - would you go?

I had let my gym membership lapse over a year ago, but had been considering signing up again at some point. The just put out an add for sign up deal, with the annual membership not starting until June 1st, but the fitness center is open as of now.

So for the cheap price I signed up now. I'm not one to spend much time at a gym, but I feel like lifting weights (small weights) is beneficial to this ageing body, and that's the best way for me to keep at it.

Short answer: yes, I'll go, but I'm not sure when my first day back will be.

Well there is swing, not sure if they're into swinging as well. All those flushed faces and giggles have to have some reason though.

Re: Gyms reopening 11th May - would you go?

I went today to my local Active Fitness branch and felt safe: They got rid of about 50 % of equipment to allow 2 meters distance in between each workout machine, installed special stations with disinfectant and cleaning tissues and provided individual instructions on how to clean each machine after use. In addition, they introduced a limit on number of people allowed inside. In the evening, it might be more crowded though, so I would recommend to call your studio before going to double check if there's a long line to get in. Also, all group classes are cancelled thru at least June 8.

It olny gets packed here Friday night and Monday noon (pre dates and post endulging weekend, it is funny), which is easy to avoid. I wonder how safe it is to wear surgical gloves.

Re: Gyms reopening 11th May - would you go?

I will drop by this week to see if it is acceptable for me. Main reason I probably won't go is because of shitty experience, not virus concerns. Otherwise yes, Zuriparcours rocks in summer, and langlaufen rocks in winter, so I probably won't renew my gym abo.

Re: Gyms reopening 11th May - would you go?

Went to my local Basefit last night in St Gallen. It wasn’t great, people working out and not cleaning equipment, people in groups around the weights. Only distancing I saw was the cardio machines where the use of the one next to you wasn’t allowed. Staff were cleaning the machines but I doubt it was actual proper spray as it smelt like water, only the hand sanitizer on the way in/out had a proper label on it and smelt as normal sanitizers do. Apparently 120 people are allowed in the gym max, says so on the door. Never seen that many people in the gym as it’s quite small,1 level area, so it will be busy as normal soon. Not many positives to be honest, cant say I’m impressed or will go again.

Re: Gyms reopening 11th May - would you go?

I was also nervous to go again.

Unfortunately, due to not canceling my gym membership within the 3-month time period (I thought it was one month) I was forced to renew for the year last week.

Re: Gyms reopening 11th May - would you go?

I have been going to the gym Twice a week for the last 20 years - one of the best things I have done enabling me to hike or ski hard all day without muscle ache.

I resumed attending 2 weeks ago. The gym is part of the eFit system and the gym‘s electronic badge system is updated in real time to an the eFit app which shows the % full. They are currently running at a maximum of 25 members at a time with half the machines closed off for distancing.

I arrive in my training kit so no need to use the changing rooms. Sanitiser spray available throughout for heads, arms and machines...

Anyone with Migros Fitness membership, you have 13-minutes to extend your rest period (just did it myself). Rather go running outside instead at least for another few weeks.
