Did not receive a parcel

Hello, asking for advice regarding the parcel delivery by post.

The post system shows that the parcel has been delivered, however I definitely did not receive it.

I also did not receive a notification note or anything like that.

The sender and the post both insist that the package has been delivered.

The size of the parcel is bigger than the mailbox and I have seen that for other neighbours the parcels were left on the floor but mine was not on the floor.

Sounds like someone took it then, even in Switzerland, it does sometimes happen.

Perhaps a neighbor put it somewhere else for safe keeping? Leave a note asking.

Iíve had some parcels stolen as well unfortunately...

Re: Did not receive a parcel

The real problem is that the sender now says that it is my financial responsibility and they still intend to charge me for the lost parcel. What are my rights here? Can I refuse to pay for the parcel which was somehow lost and I didn't actually receive it?

Could be, but if you have not received it then ask the sender to send another one, or make a chargeback on your credit card if they don't. Also check no-one else took it in for you. Happened to me once, I was away for a few days when the parcel arrived. Neighbour took it in then had to urgently leave for 3 weeks (as I discovered after). Made a complaint, Post Office etc said it had been sent/delivered and a new one despatched which arrived two days later.

Neighbour returns and gives me the unopened box. Oops!!! Immediately called the seller and returned it post paid by me. Very graciously they declined my offer to pay the postage for the second parcel saying it was not the first time it has happened!!

Sender is responsible till the moment they give the package to the postal service, after that it becomes your problem, so you have to pay them.

You can put a claim towards the postal services who are liable if the package has not been delivered correctly like leaving it on the street.

Unless the parcel was sent registered delivery or the terms of sale says differently, it is your responsibility once it is handed over to the postal services.

If the parcel required a signature, the Post Office should at least be able to show you that?

Unfortunately, in the Corona times, the postal worker will sign on your behalf. Nevertheless they should check identity of the receiver as good as possible.

Re: Did not receive a parcel

Change the handling of parcels at post.ch immediately.
(Empfang steuern, Umleiten oder zurŁckbehalten).

If there is a parcel on its way, you will receive an email with the parcel number a day before the planned delivery, so you can redirect the parcel or delay the parcel .

I use PickPost where possible. Then the responsibility is fully on the Post. Unfortunately there are too many ratbags around these days

For the last couple of months it has not been going very well for me... Sometimes the email only arrive the same morning and you can't do any management of the delivery.

If you have a safe location for delivery such as through the gate and on the staircase on your right you can set that as a default. Appreciate that not everyone has one but it works for me. And the posties are very obliging.

We were speaking of the notification email you used to get the day before the parcel arrives, so you can go in and change the deliver route. It only works if you do it the day before delivery.... for me since about mid Feb it has not worked so well, sometimes I get the notification the morning the parcel arrives, so no change to manager the delivery.
