what to do with an old washing machine

I'm about to get a new washing machine from Galaxus. They only offer to take away the old one if I pay another 200chf on top for the "installation" of the new one.

Anybody know my options ? Can I take it to the SRS 'recycling' place (their website isn't clear) ? Can I dump it in front of any electrical retailer ?

Anyone recommend an online retailer that'll take away the old one for a reasonable cost ?

Thanks.. they're really useful links

I've just found that Nettoshop.ch will take away the old machine for 60chf... so I'll go with them

No.. they'll take away the old machine if I buy a new one from them (the difference with Galaxus is they only have an all inclusive 'install/take away' optional service... Nettoshop have an install and/or take away service)

The Advance Recycling Fee (vRG) is included in every new electrical appliance that you buy, so disposal of it is always free of charge.

All old appliances can be handed in free of charge at any SWICO or SENS collection point or any electrical retailers, regardless of where you bought the appliance.

Ah thanks- perso I'd say 60.- to dismantle, fit new one and take away is money very well spent- your back will thank you. What we did when we bought new fridge recently.

I suspect the Instalation is done by the delivery man, rather than a plumber doing the delivery

sorry FMF- I don't quite know what you mean? Did I say a plumber would be involved? Although if you pay for deconnection and reconnection and removal- they do send a 'technician' with the driver.
