I’ll see if I can get a link, I got this from my s-i-l’s husband. He called ‘somebody’ there to see if we could visit for just a few days.
It is logical that any restriction applicable to a visitor would apply equally to the visitees.

You can definitely leave at any time, the departure date option would not exist if you had to stay for 14 days. The form was accepted online so clearly nothing they did not expect.
Loads of FUD, mentioned this on a FB group. Huge eruption, then about 10 people said it was within the rules.

its all a bit vague with phrases like - Within your accommodation
The people you’re staying with do not need to stay at home, unless they travelled with you - but here is the link https://www.gov.uk/government/public...avel-to-the-uk
Ive just come back from the UK, no one checked where I was , no phone call or sms and no one asked if I had completed and submitted the form when I arrived at Heathrow.

OK, it looks like our contact did not get it right. Unless we begin to show symptons they don’t have to lock down with us.

Indeed, i was wrong to say that you must stay for 14 days. The gov.uk website states that you must self-isolate for 14 days BUT then later says that you can leave the house for such things as ‘travelling directly in order to leave England.’ See https://www.gov.uk/government/public...avel-to-the-uk
A better summary is from the euronews website which also states that that family members from the household where you are self-isolating, they do not need to self-isolate themselves. https://www.euronews.com/2020/08/25/...9-travel-disru |

20 Minuten reporting that there will be a change to the quarantine list. Proposal is that only countries with an incidence 60 cases per 100,000 higher than Switzerland will have to quarantine. Atm that would take the UK off the list. https://www.20min.ch/story/grenzwert...n-907209100695

| | New U.K. rules causing a headache
Hi,
I’m currently working in Switzerland and my wife was going to travel out from the U.K. this month to join me for Christmas. Unfortunately Boris has just changed the rules and international travel is now banned unless you’re travelling for work. Anybody else having a similar issue?
I’m really hoping the rules are relaxed In December now when they are next reviewed
Blooming COVID!!!

You‘re not the only one. Already had 3 months not seeing hubby, seems it will again be 3 months. Lots of people who can‘t see their loved ones!

The UK doesn’t have exit controls, so she’d be able to leave IF she could find a flight. Returning much more difficult. Expect Easy and other low costs to simply cancel flights, LX and BA likely to continue some LHR-GVA/ZRH flights.

Fortunately Boris hasn't imposed a travel ban on visitors from Outer Space yet.

Bummer indeed- not seen our daughters and grandchildren since last February, and we will be on our own for Christmas too.

The new rule says you can’t leave the U.K. unless you’re travelling for work

Anyone know how it works for residents of Switzerland currently in the UK (travelled by car)?
We plan to come back in a couple of weeks. For France there's a form we need to carry to say we're third country residents, but for the UK I haven't seen anything specific yet.

There are no exit controls, no passport checks (other than the airline verifying your identity) at any UK airport. If asked just say business, it could be monkey business. They can’t hold you hostage.
As I said, your return to the UK likely will be more challenging.

Bowlie ''

indeed, it is all nonsense otherwise.
